"I would be writing a strong letter to find out why",
so would i, but wouldn't be holding my breath for a good explanation.
i find Barclaycard's CS to be desperately poor. if you can get someone in England, who knows what is going on, on the phone you might find out what they've done & why.
ive never received a card & then had it withdrawn but, as above, they can do it if they want. who's the other balance with? if not MBNA then i would be applying for an MBNA card if i were you.0 -
This happens all the time, I've read loads of threads on here about exactly this.
Seems there's nothing you can do about it.
Natwest/RBS use a special unit called the AVU who close accounts even when the applicant had got their cards."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -
Thanks all for your helpful replies. I rang up barclaycard this morning and was put through to the fraud dept. I was told that all accounts old and new had been reviewed lately and people that did not meet the 'new' lending criteria had their accounts closed and unfortunately my account was one of them. I cannot believe it took them only 48hrs to open and close my account. How imcompetent! Anyway, I have logged a complaint, so lets see what happens.0

I had the same happen to me, which I would understand if I had a poor credit history. However I checked my experian records before bothering to apply, all accounts i have are satisfactory, no CCJs, no outstanding debt and a good score.
Does anyone know if we can see the same details held by Experian that financial organisations see?0 -
Check Equifax as well,
I posted elsewhere, but I had it explained to me that the standard application checks are done by one agency, but if you hit any of the wideranging fraud rules, such as postcode/previous tennent/similar name etc, a secondary check is done via the other - this is what keeps throwing up these accept/declines... Which is a very silly way of doing it I think..0
