Honda scooter service expensive!!

  • This scooter is a 4 stroke water cooled motor. The only thing time consuming in the 6 monthly service schedule is to check the valve clearance. So the cost depends on how hard that is to do. So if it takes an hour to check the valves and an hour to check everything else that means the dealer is charging about £70@hour and the independent about £35 @ hour. Which isn't surprising.
Oil is changed annually so every other service will cost more.
I know this because curiosity made me download the owners manual.
  • So, I am under the assumption that I can get this scooter serviced at a garage who will stamp my book and the warranty will be all ok?

paddedjohn, if you have got a 2-stroke scooter, there is no oil to change. a 2-stroke uses a total-loss oil system.

Check to see if the service is the same cost every time. My gilera runner had to have the valves checked and shimmed every few years which bumped up the cost of that service.

Check what needs doing from you service book.

The point of the get on campaign is to encourage people to see the benifits of two-wheeled vehicles. Having your scooter serviced is cheaper than a car, the tax is £15, economy will be about 90mpg, an mot is about £30 rather than £50, parking (unless you are in westminster) is free. It is still far, far cheaper to run a scooter than a car.
    gear oil, ep80

Honda in Knutsford charged me 70 quid instead
  • Honda PCX125 is a SOHC 4 stroke single. Apparently does 130 MPG how many does a jizz do? 40?
Nothing to see here, move along.

Yep, that is a good approximation of MPG.
