Honda scooter service expensive!!
I need some help as I am about to get my HOnda PCX 125 serviced and the Hunts Honda Motorbike shop want 125 + VAT for a service that is done every six months. The bike is new and the whole cheap scootering thing has been blown out of the window!!!
Here is my economics:
Honda Jazz = 150 quid service and MOT 12 monthly
Honda PCX 125 SCOOTER = 300 quid
I have complained to Honda as this takes the biscuit, and I made them aware of my disgust at the Honda shop as well. I thought they were all mad until I started asking around for prices and near on everyone has similar prices I mean !!!!!!!!!

your best bet is to learn to do it yourself, to be honest.0

Yep I would agree except this scooter is new and I have a two year warranty to keep0
-
But no MOT to worry about, and only 3 to pay for before you can service it yourself.
Honda Jazz car?
Labour on a scooter/bike will be more if panels need to be removed and refitted for checks/changes.
How much is the road tax on the car? Fuel economy? MOT costs by comparison 3 years down the line.
Finally, not being stuck in traffic.0 -
Is it 2 stroke or 4 stroke?
£150 sounds way excessive imo
If it's 2 stroke you won't need an oil change - I presume a spark plug and air filter change would be the only parts required
4 stroke would require an oil change, but i presume a scooter would take no more than a litre or two of oil, and again a spark plug and air filter change
Take it to a scooter specialist if you must. As long as they are VAT registered they can do your service and the manufacturers warranty won't be affectedIf Adam and Eve were created first
.Does that mean we are all inbred0 -

i change the oil in my 2 stroke every 6 months, air filters are washable and the plug should only need checking/cleaning and regapping every year or so, no need to change it evey time.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
Bigger bikes are even worse, and bike consumables don't seem to last as long.0

electric scooters are the way forwardsquaaaaaaaaacccckkkkkk!!!! :money:0

it looks like i am on the lookout for a new service centre, luckily i have found one in Stockport who will charge 75 quid and are vat registered. But all in all I feel very ripped off! and I even spoke to Honda and put a complaint into them as well. The whole point of scootering is cheap and enjoyable fun whilst not using the car. What is the whole point of the Get On! campaign?0

After it is out of warranty:
Amazon: Honda 125 Scooters Service and Repair Manual: 2000 to 2010 (Haynes Motorcycle Manuals)
Price: £14.44
This may not be specific to the PCX but your owners manual will have the additional details you need.0 -
paddedjohn, if you have got a 2-stroke scooter, there is no oil to change. A 2-stroke uses a total-loss oil system.
Check to see if the service is the same cost every time. My Gilera Runner had to have the valves checked and shimmed every few years which bumped up the cost of that service.
Check what needs doing from you service book.
The point of the Get On campaign is to encourage people to see the benifits of two-wheeled vehicles. Having your scooter serviced is cheaper than a car, the tax is £15, economy will be about 90mpg, an MoT is about £30 rather than £50, parking (unless you are in Westminster) is free. It is still far, far cheaper to run a scooter than a car.0
