Quick update on into the investigation of the owner/situation
The current owner is paying to get a vet check done and to ake sure all boosters are current. She is also paying for copies of the paperwork so that we can have a look at them.
Also found out she is microchipped, as we have received another 10 photos of the dog so that we can determine how "chunky" she actually is.0 -
labs aren't a breed I have owned but I don't think in the ad 'chunky' is referring to the dog being fat (although I haven't looked at the pics). chunky is a term often used to differentiate between the leaner working line dogs and the larger boned show lines so in that sense a chunky lab is a more solid stockier dog with wider set features etc.
In respect of the the dog having papers, any dog can have a pedigree - this is in essence a family tree. The aspect that makes a dogs pedigree more credible is if the dog is registered with the Kennel Club i.e. KC reg. This would allow for checks to be done into the dogs health history etc.
ETA just looked at pics and that dog is fat! She does look quite chunky in terms of her head though so my post still stands. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -

It's a constant source of amazement to me just how many very very rotund labradors there are around our way - it's got to the point where if you see a normal sized one it's a novelty! I'm talking waves of flab that ripple when they walk fat!
Having said that - my guy is absolutely besotted by a little choccie lab girlie who walks where we do quite regularly - he adores her!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

Someone said of my chocolate lab today 'what is it - I can see by the head there is some chocolate lab there'. I nearly smacked her and didn't even grace with a response - he is very tall and lean and not at all chunky:D
Our last lab was a retired gundog retriever - he didn't look his 15 1/2 years at the end and it was a constant battle to stop him hoovering every food going up but done for his own good. He could still jump a gate at 12yrs old which is how they should be.0 -
Well they had there first visit to see the chocolate lab... This dog def aint just chunky.. its FAT!!!
They met with there own dog along with the lab and its owners outside the lab owners house. It became very much apparent to my friend and partner that this dog never had really been outside. It was so happy that it was outside the house.. totally ignored my friend, her partner and their dog.
The dog was also very bad on a lead ( may be due to the lack of fresh air and exercise)
Their not sure what to do as they are wondering what other issues the dog may have.. But the main one was the fact the dog was very big0 -
So if they take this dog on, they are first of all going to have to put her on a diet! Which won't be easy - because labs love their food so much, she will become (if she isn't already) - a dustbin diver and thief! Nothing to be left out on worktops, cupboards secured - keep her out of the room when they are eating etc etc etc. However, if it appears that she has never been allowed out - for walks, to play etc - it shouldn't be too hard to shift the lard.
She really will need to lose weight.0 -
Poor dog, probably had very little exercise and labs will stuff themselves silly if given the chance.0

I think in a way i would have found it a bit upsetting seeing a dog that hasn't been exercised for a year.
Im wondering as well what the dog would be like out on a lead when walking e.g. if was scared when cars came past.. Not exactly a small puppy size to try and control if it goes a bit crazy.
Im not sure what my friend is thinking at the moment - if they will carry on with the process0
