Is he a member of Pistonheads? :rotfl: It's the only car for any situation over there0

It's probably more practical for boot space than the Kia Picanto I've just bought :eek:0

Smart repairs are usually rubbish and don't last that long at the best of times
Does your dad still have the MX5?
Sorry Kilty, but I have to take a bit issue with this. Smart repairs (small dent repairs) have no less time limit on them than a full panel repair. The dent doesn't come back as time passes. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
I just don't believe it - people with very little training mixing together paint/lacquer etc and applying it on your driveway without proper treatment times etc like a bodyshop have.
Not the first person to be sceptical of smart repairs.0 -
A nice little earner for this pre pay smart repair idea.
Who sets the value of each repair, an ex plumber smart repairer could use your £3K limit up on two scratches the way they estimate, and who guarantees the work will get done if the firm goes belly up in 3 months time.0 -

And how many of the pieces of damage will be 0.000000000000001mm too big resulting in a refused claim?0 -

It very much depends on what training the franchisee gets. The better ones will survive, in a very competitive market place and the bad ones won't. Just the same as body shops. In fact, I have known bodyshops to call them in, or recommend them, if the need is there.
The training is quite intensive and requires quite a few weeks. Even then a franchisee can't go on the road on his own, until the franchisor is satisfied they are competent and signs them off, after working with a trainer for a minimum time. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
