How to avoid blisters in new shoes

Hy Everyone Im off out Saturday night and I have bought myself a pair of very high heeled new shoes and I really want to avoid blisters and poorly feet by the end of the night. I dont want to use heel grips as they never work propley. I have heard of a home made way to avoid poorly feet but I cant think at the mo. Does anyone have any tips for me.
Thanks oggy

Wear the shoes for an hour or so a day or two before you're due to go out.

Note the pressure points / possible sore places and stick an elastoplast on them on the big day :)

I agree with Squeaky, I bought a new pair of boots yesterday, still trying to wear them in and have somwhow managed to get blisters on both heels.

  • As Squeaky says wear them around the house for a bit. Other tips that have worked for me:-

Heat relaxes leather, pop them near a radiator before you put them on.

Another tip is to wear them in the house with a pair of socks over the top to heat your feet up (lovely I know...) Not so good for high heels though...

A final tip is to rub an almost dry bar of soap over the bits of your feet that are rubbing.

If all else fails, kick off the heels and dance around your handbag!!! Have fun.
  • I think that you should rub the bar of soap inside the shoes on the bits that rub, it will soften them

Buy shoes that fit properly ;)

I've never had blisters from shoes, but I am very picky and will go for fit over fashion.
Here I go again on my own....

Or try vaseline. You can even buy stuff specifically designed for this:

which I found worked to some extent.

There are some products in Boots in the foot section that may help. They are not cheap though. Depending on what type of shoes they are the things I am thinking of are like see through jelly like plasters. Worked for me in summer when i had some strappy shoes that i knew would pinch!
whoops didnt read all the above thread all the way. The link mentioned in that is similar to the ones I used but i think they were called party feet or something. same thing though I guess

 don't put your leather shoes near a heat source!!! You will dry out and possibly crack the leather.

Rub body shop body butter on the bits of your fete which are prone to rubbing and it will ease it if not prevent it totally.

Failing thta have a couple of drinks when you are out and you won't care;)

  • The opposite to the radiator is if your shoes feel ever so slightly too big, pop them in your car over night.

I learnt this the hard way. My knee high boots were left in my car over night, as I can't drive in them. When I went to put them on in the car outside my work for a meeting at work yesterday they were nearly impossible to put on. I thought I was going to have to walk in with my work skirt on and my driving shoes, what a sight!!

My mum swears by this (she has rheumatoid arthritis and her feet are a bit mishapen). When ever she has new shoes to wear on a night out she pops them in the freezer in a bag that morning. Put's them on before she goes out (and they must be bloody freezin) and as they thaw the leather moulds to her feet. Dunno how but it works for her!
