Options
I have an android phone and I can get free internet abroad with Btfon. I will be turning data off on my phone so I do not get charged for data when away but does anyone know can I still use the wifi when in access area for free wifi with the data turned off ?
I have turned data off and it still connects to wifi in house, so I am hopng i will be same when away.
thanks

Don't see why it wouldn't work. Bear in mind, it may still cost to use public WiFi but it would still probably be cheaper than using your mobile's internet if intending to "roam" abroad. I tend to just purchase sims whilst abroad and use it to call those that are most likely to call you0

We have a spare sim with £20 on it ( someone had to buy top up with new phone ) so will be using that for texting home in spare basic phone but IF we are able to connect to free wifi at Fon hotspots may make use of it . iw ill definetly not have data on , hubby went to Dublin a few weeks ago, turn on his data to use internet and forgot to turn it off again for a few hours, cost him £30  I will not be making that mistake lolTOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -
Even if it isn't free WiFi, it may be pretty cheap(sort of like our BT Openzone or TheCloud hotspots)0

There are lots of places that have free wifi. McDonalds for one.
I use free wifi with my Iphone 4 to call using skype when I am at a free wifi hotspot all around the world.
You can also text using Skype.
Just load Skype on your computer AND smart phone. create an account. KEEP SIGNED IN.
Get all your friends with smart phones (android or apple) to do the same = free calls (with video if you want) and free chat (same as sms)
easy. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0
