help with SMI

hi there, I am now a single mum of 4 young children. Can anyone tell me if I am able to get SMI, I work 16 hours a week and take home approx £900 a month, I claim child benefit and WTC, I can't seem to get a straight answer anywhere.

If you work sixteen hours you will not qualify for SMI.

Over 15 hours means you don't qualify for Income Support to which SMI is paid through, you have to take into account your current income of £900 wages and your WTC. By reducing your hours to 15 you will not be entitled to WTC but may be entitled to Income Support which may trigger Mortgage Interest Payments
Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.

The cut off is 15 hrs 59 mins not 15 hours.

    Was that really neccessary?

I think it was obvious what the other poster meant.

If you think that 15 hours is the same 15 hours 59 minutes, I trust you would be happy to work the latter and be paid the former? Nope, didn't think so! :p

Don't think i've seen a wage slip with 15 h 59 m etc in my life, why.... if you work over 15 hours (i.e 16) you don't qualify. period, think it was quite easy to understand..... or maybe not in your case

No, you clearly have no understanding of basic numeracy. Whilst 15 hrs 59 mins is clearly not a standard working pattern, 15 hrs 30 mins, 15 hrs 45 mins etc are.

Are you only capable of dealing with whole numbers?

I am not the one who cannot accept that they are wrong. You don't seem to be able to contemplate that anyone can work more than 15 hours but less than 16?
