I'll give another big up for Burns, I have 2 very hyper staffies and since changing to Burns they are much calmer. Although that could be my training, LOL.
  • I feed my dog on James Wellbeloved and she is doing well on it. She recently had Bakers at a friends a few times in a fortnight and became hyper then very ill, didn't move for nearly a week and stopped eating all together. After a quick visit to the vet who told me that was definately the cause, we only let her eat her own food now ;)
  • Thank you very much - comment re Wet Food noted! Thank you.

I did wonder by your name if you had chows - my grandparents have a lovely black chow, she is the second they have owned! Such characters!

Chows are great dogs, I had no idea when I took on my 2 yr old rescue at the time, she was literally going to change my life!!! I've had a career change, in the process of moving home to accomodate them, god knows what's next hehehee :)

I won't buy anything else from PURINA / FELIX.

I won a competion for £1000 and sent them my entry a month ago and they haven't replied to my emails or phone calls regarding getting this prize. I take in rescued cat/pregnant/strays and kittens so the money was earmarked for them.

I am making a formal complaint to the Advertising Standards Commission about PURINA.

My cats eat James wellbeloved and Royal Canin and have all got fat on it but are very healthy - now on the diet variety!
Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!

Try them on burns, it tends not to pile on the pounds like some other foods ;)
  • Can I ask why any of you don't feed your dog Bakers? I was at PAH the other day and the woman said it was like feeding your dog McDonalds every day which horrified me. I've now started my dog on Wainwrights and she loves it so I'm sticking with it.

Just wanted to know other peoples opinions on Bakers.

    Thanks

Bakers is full of additives, preservatives and colourants... it is like junk food for dogs.

it does have a massive marketing machine behind it telling owners it's the best think since sliced bread though, hense it'shigh profile place in the marketplace!!!

I'll give another big up for Burns, I have 2 very hyper staffies and since changing to Burns they are much calmer. Although that could be my training, LOL. Pet Supermarket often run offers, I got 2 15kg bags delivered recently for £72 plus quidco cashback - my local shop is charging £47 a bag. He is a lovely chap but the extra £22 is a month of food for one dog so unless hematches the price I'll buy from www.petsupermarket.co.uk again. It never seems to be on offer elsewhere like other brands are.

I posted this earlier and I am now going to quote myself. I have just had an offer email that says Burns is £8 discount on 15kgs bag, well, I checked their website and they reckon it 'used' to be £51. It's never been £51. Last month I paid £42 and got £7 discount on 2 bags, I checked the site last week and it was still £42 and I was waiting for an offer code to come in.

I thought there might have been a price rise but on the Burns website the same food is £42: http://shop.burnspet.com/Products/CAT_201?childpid=0x314D25520000010600DB120800890000

Quite annoyed about this blatant lie about the before price, tbh. I am going to speak to Burns tomorrow as it does not say what their delivery charge is but it seems rather odd that I come on here recommending PS and the 'before' price rises by almost £10. I won't be ordering from them again if these are the tactics they use when people recommend their site on here.
