Leaving my job on wednesday without giving notice.

Good for you!! I did the same in November after working for a company for 7 months. I signed a contract that said I had to give 6 weeks notice, but in the end I had had enough - my dog needed veterinary treatment and they wouldn't give me the morning off (half a day holiday) to sort him out so in the end I walked out as loads of stuff had been building for months and I had had enough.
My boss was threatening to come to my house and beat my dogs up cos he was training as a boxer and all the rest of it, but I just ignored him and in the end they posted me my P45 and I got paid what I was owed.
Good for you for not taking anymore crap and I hope you are happy in your new job!The more one gets to know of men, the more one values dogs.0 -

Firstly, an employer CANNOT sue you for anything relating to an employment contract unless it is a counter-claim. So if you are happy to lose the holiday pay then you have no need to take them to court and no worries about a counter-claim.
It is law that they must provide you with a P45 and you can report them to HMRC if they refuse to issue it. Someone else may have mentioned this but just fill in a P46 on your first day in the new job. Most companies would not think anything of it as P45s are not normally issued until your old place does your final pay, which theoretically could be almost a month away. A P60 will not be any use for this, it is a P46 you need to complete and you can even download one yourself and take it with you on your first day

One thing you haven't considered is that by walking out with no notice is that you can be sued by your employer for any costs of getting in covering staff as well as any loss to the business.0 -
Contracts can't usually exceed the law. It's 1 week notice in the first year. They know they would have lost in court. What a terrible condition to have.... 6 weeks. They would have had to give you 6 weeks.
