Hi,
I've just started comping.. and find myself losing track of which competitions i've entered.
Does anyone use any specific software products for this purpose? Keep track in an excel spreadsheet?
I'm a software developer and have started writing a small but usful application that compers (especially myself!) can use to keep track of competitions they have entered.
Features will include..
- Adding a competition (name, opendate, entrydate, closedate, url etc)
- Viewing outstanding competitions..
- Viewing regular competition webpages pages via automatically created screenshots.
Can anyone think of any features they think would be useful?
Would anyone care to volounteer to use early versions of the software and profide feedback for improvements?
This is your chance to get a tool that does exaclty what you want.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks for your input,
-- Lee

Better search, Seperate End Date field, Quicker and easier merging etc
It would also be useful if it could intergrate with this site!0 -

How you supposed to answer a question if you can't bump... Unless Admin make all forums read only after initial post.!0 -
Sounds like an interesting piece of software. However, I, and I expect others enter competitions at more than one location (ie home and work during breaks). Therefore, if entering from work (where I can't add software) I wouldn't be able to update.
Would the software you have put together have any spyware or similar?
Is it just for me to update competitions I have entered? One facility could be for it to "add" competitions itself that have been found. Or in the case of email competitions, a facility whereby it can sent the email itself, using perhaps a "saved" profile.
PM me if you wish!0 -
Im not sure id like to keep a sheet of how many i enter...just a sheet of wins
I just click on the Thanks button under the post and then OP gets thanked for wonderful work they do and i also do not enter comps more than once xx0 -
I only keep track of the ones that send me their boring newsletters... so I can unsubscribe as soon as the comp is over!0

I've got mine in Excel.
Best bit is it stores the links to the competition entry pages, and the number of times I've entered.
When I've used up all my entries the line goes greyed out (automatically).
The only thing it doesn't do is set up the fields from the MSE post on the thread - but I could work on that.
Your most useful contribution would be a good search for the board (try sorting in order of closing date )
#2 suggestion- cross check a competition hyperlink against the known spam generators.
#3 suggestion - take a look at the 'Regular Competitions' Board0
