    Hi Moonrakerz

Eaga Scotland and Eaga England are registered as two different companies. Maybe that makes a difference. As an add on, I filled in an online complaint form yesterday - we'll get back to you shortly their message said. 24 hrs later I'm still waiting.
I can only comment on my experience. Also, one of my neighbors who also signed up in October is still waiting to get done.

I must admit, getting the loft insulation done seems to have made upstairs a lot warmer. Not really sure about the rest of the house.

  • WARNING TO THE PUBLIC

Don't bother using this company or 'Carillion' as they are now known.

I booked to have wall cavity and loft insulation with them a few weeks ago and they sent someone to my home, he told me I would have to completely empty my loft of the existing insulation but due to being a single mother with disability I was unable to do this myself and had to pay someone to do it.
Yesterday (the day before the insulation was due) I called their office to confirm everything was still going ahead the next day and they told me yes it was all going ahead and that they would be here at 8am.
8:20am this morning they turned up at my door to say they couldn't do the job today because they've been called in for a meeting, no apology, no phone call of explanation from the manager or any mention of a reschedule.
I tried calling the main office throughout the day but got no reply, until I eventually found another number to go through to someone else who had no idea what I was talking about and said there wasn't any meeting and even if there was it shouldn't have affected customers, with regards to getting my insulation done they couldn't give me another date and told me it would be best to get the old insulation put back up there at my expense.
So I have now been left in the cold winter months just before Christmas with absolutely no loft insulation whatsoever and I cannot afford to pay someone to put the old insulation back up again for me on my disability allowance.

Hmmm. Virtually echoes my experience with this shower.

Had a survey done for cavity insulation. Date agreed but no show. Rang them and 'someone in the office should have 'phoned me the day before to confirm? Hadn't done so therefore they'd aborted!'

Reluctantly set a new date. 2 x motley crews arrived and spent 20 mins pointing out their surveyor had missed things. And they needed to fit an air vent right across the kitchen wall to the boiler chamber. Pointed out there was a large air vent just behind them in the form of the kitchen door - and to close it on the way out.

Found a locally recommended installer and had a very tidy job done a couple of weeks later.
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

OP: It's good that you read the t&c's, but after reading them did you have any doubt about whether to sign or not? I'd have told them to funk off!!!!

I wonder if they get the grant money once you sign the form, as opposed to when the job is done? If so, this might explain why they don't seem to be turning up etc.....There's no reason why anyone should take these offers from anyone on your doorstep - you are nothing to them, so they don't care of they annoy you.

Go through the local authority if possible, as companies can't afford to lose large LA contracts.
  • As mentioned by someone else, if your home was built in 2006 it should already have full or partial cavity wall insulation as part of building regulations.

Tesco are offering everyone free insulation regardless of income (our company Enact Energy manages the service), cavity wall should be free although homes that are larger than average or which need extras like core vents may be charged just for those extras. Loft insulation is also free as long as you have less than 60mm of existing insulation.

No one should be asking you to clean out the old loft insulation, this is a clear breach of whichever grant scheme that company was working under and above all else,is an incredibly messy and unnecessary job.

Details of the free Tesco Insulation offer are on the MSE website (search 'insulation')
