Imagine that it was not a loan but a sale for a 10k designer sofa. You need to contact the company ( family run for 200 years ,) to explain you needed to pass on some design measurements urgently to the department before the work commenced.
You speak to the PA of the company , you explain your plight. The design office is closed.
Would you expect now the PA to help , or to refer you back to the design office ?
Banks are no different , but our mindset dictates that they are doing us the favour , "infact we are doing them the favour for giving them the opportunity to do so." Ghandi0 -
Vote with your feet, end of.
To seek apology or change smacks of desperation and is pointless as you have threatened to vote with your feet.
I do not want a groveling apology full of meaningless platitudes.
I wanted an acknowledgment , that they could have and should have helped.
As you are leaving, they do not or should not care two hoots about you.
My Son has a simple savings account there, I would rather they cared about me to be honest, I enjoy the great rates and am happy to accept a reduced CS attitude in exchange.
Depends on the relationship you have with your bank. If it was your current account , or a account where you have a higher level of emotional attachment , you would want both0 -

In which case you're with the wrong bank. Try Hoare's or Coutt's, two banks where you get superior service (especially Hoare's which is still independent, Coutt's is RBS now) for a higher fee.0 -

I think there is a asset criteria , my modest £60k would preclude me from their banking services.
I was thinking Co-op or First Direct.0 -
No, they're happy to take your money. Hoare's don't apply an account fee if you keep a rolling balance of just £25k, but will take your business with less of course. Coutt's have an even lower requirement/charges, but have lost some of their sheen since RBS.
If you want to try something a little more common man yet still personal, try Triodos. Very good bank.0 -
Customer service is normally an integral part of a company . Customers have memories. They will remember you, whether you remember them or not. Further, customer trust can be destroyed at once by a major service problem, or it can be undermined one day at a time, with a thousand small demonstrations of incompetence. From the point of view of an overall effort, customer service plays an important role in an organisation's ability to generate income and revenue. From that perspective, customer service should be included as part of an overall approach to systematic improvement. A customer service experience can change the entire perception a customer has of the organisation word of mouth can make or break an organisation.
I agree Nationwide should care about you and your son as it should all its customers, particularly as its market products are no more than mid range. I hope to raise the organisations self awarness and yes the feeling as you describe it is becoming pointless and desperate when faced with Nationwide's complete Indifference.0 -
