Easyjet from Newcastle to Stansted ceasing in March

Hi Guys. I've just noticed that these flights are ceasing at the end of March. Does anyone know if any other airline is going to take over this route? Thanks.

Very unlikely. You can still fly to Heathrow with BA or take the East Coast train which if you want central London is now as fast as flying to Stansted and getting the 'Express' to Liverpool Street

If you want to get to Stansted or anywhere in that area then it's likely the changes to the East Coast timetable from 22nd May will make that more difficult as less trains are going to stop at Peterborough. It may be that going into London and out again becomes the quicker option - although for years it's generally been quicker to go by train from the north to Gatwick than to Stansted

Crap. I use that route a few times a year. I live near Stansted and have family in Newcastlle. It's usually quicker, less stressful and cheaper than getting the train or driving. Each time I take the flight it's always reasonably busy.

Not much point in me flying NCL-LHR as Heathrow is over 90 mins drive from home. I could be half way to Newcastle in that time.

I know, it's always a busy flight so I am surprised that they stopping it. We need to go to Stansted for flight to Vasteras, Sweden, so now we're stuck.

Ryanair fly from Edinburgh to Skavsta and you can fly to Arlanda with SAS or Norwegian

Thanks Alan. Only problem is now we'll have to add cost of hotel to overnight in Edinburgh and cost of train to edinburgh and cost of transfer from Skavsta to vasteras. Whereas Newcastle was perfect as we are only one hour on metro to newcastle airport. Cost £3.60p. Probably have to go with BA cos they have Newcastle-Heathrow, Heathrow-Arlanda. And if we can book well in advance it costs about £81. Which is good but Ryanair was better cos that brought us exactly to Vasteras. Thanks

The cheapest STN-NCL return I could find now is via Düsseldorf for £600! I think I'll be taking the train or driving next time. The last time I did the route on EasyJet it was £45 return. Trains prices are coming up at about £100 return.

Thanks richardw. Checked but would have to stay overnight in Gerona for the Sunday flight to vasteras or 2 nights for the Thursday flight.

That's the walk up fare for an off-peak ticket. You wouldn't book Easyjet on the day would you?

Booked in advance you'd pay as little as £24 return and you'd have a wider choice of times to travel. You also won't be ritually humiliated at airports
