Holiday Autos Con

Had an email from Holiday Autos offering 25% discount on French car hire. Booked online for cheapest car and got quoted £153.10p - Excellent!
Get a confirmation email confirming they are checking availability.
Email this morning:
Dear Mr. Lowery,
Your booking reference number : 00000000
Thank you for requesting a rental vehicle with Holidayautos.
We have received a response from our local supplier to inform that the vehicle you requested is unfortunately not available.
Please contact us urgently on 0871 etc (at 10p per minute), or by replying to this e-mail if you would like to check alternative vehicle. Please note that cars are subject to availability with the supplier.
Please be advised that since the booking is not confirmed, no money has been charged to your card.
If we do not hear from you within the next 48 hours we will assume you no longer require a vehicle from Holidayautos and your booking request will be cancelled.
Please accept our apologies that we were unable to confirm your original request.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Phoned number and told that only car available was a compact! (Usually the cheapest) Then quoted £250!!!
What a con!! Be warned.

Its not a con, there just a utter sh!te company to use for car hire! and tend to charge more than any uk broker i have ever checked with!0

how strange - I've just trawled through loads of car hire sites and holiday autos were the cheapest for 11 days compact car hire italy in september - lets just hope it available when i come to booksomething missing0 -

Why is it a con?
THey informed you they were checking with the supplier for that type of car at that price and, unfortunately, it wasn't available. And a compact car is not usually the cheapest - you can get mini, & super mini cars.
They did not take any money off your card, and have not forced you to take the revised quote.
