What would you do if your dog was being attacked?

If some dog attacks ended up with the attacking dog being killed and it were reported in the paper (particularly where it is a smaller dog, s they are ignored in favour of the devil dogs stories), perhaps some of the useless owners would reconsider letting their 'babies' off the leash.
I believe you are the poster who reported me for quoting "abysmal" or something.
Let me say it, I have never read a post worse than yours in my entire life.
You have stated you would kick a dog, a small Westie to death. This on a pet thread.
Let me remind you of a previous post of yours.

So my comments needed reporting.
Your views regarding kicking a dog to death are OK then?
No, of course they are not, and I certainly wouldn't report them, unless I thought you would go ahead and do it.
I think you need to cool your hot head down.
You dish it out, but can't take it.
Go and take a look at yourself.0 -
Pet Correctors can traumatise your dog at the same time too so be VERY careful if you do use them.
I always stand infront of my dog and shout as loud as I can at the aggressive dog. It normally scares the other dog off quickly.
But a walking cane comes in handy if all else fails.0 -

I think that you should check your notes, as I don't think that was me. So unless you can prove it was me - and if you do I will unreservedly apologise to the whole of the forum - you can get lost.
Try picking on the person who actually rattled your cage.
I suggest that if you can't find out who did upset you (as it certainly wasn't me), you get in touch with the mods to find out who you should be directing your righteous indignation towards.
And yes, if it were the case that the Westie was in the process of killing my pet, I wouldn't hold back and watch my pet die. As said on this pet forum. I would kill another animal to save the life of a pet of mine.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Well Jojo you'd be focussing on the wrong dog with the Westie, it's no good picking on the little ones. If 2 dogs are attacking your dog, never go for the small one, go for the big one. The dog that is bigger than yours is the one that is going to cause the worst damage. A fight that is more 'size to size' can result in some bites, but it's a fair deal in terms of size, whereas a large dog can do a lot of damage to a small one.
My friend used to carry a stick when walking her medium size, non aggressive dog. She'd show any approaching dogs the stick, raise it high, and let them know she'd use it. They always took off. Said stick can also be used to vigorously poke testicles or anus if necessary which dogs find somewhat distracting, while allowing you to stay at a distance.Hitting the dog in other places isn't so effective in terms of persuading them to leave. Plus owners come running up to control their dogs when they see you armed with a stick.0 -
Here we go....the original post that upset Padstow...not too hard to check one's facts.

OP I've been lurking and following this since you first posted. I hope you find him a forever home soon, you've shown a kindness to this poor animal and hopefully Karma will play it's part beneficially for you too one day.

So not me.
I'd probably let rip at both dogs if they were both attacking one of mine. As I think I said earlier. But the odds are that such a situation would lead to a small dead dog and a larger injured dog.
I'm being honest - I'd wade in to try and save my pet's life. I can't make it nice, I may completely go to pieces and sob as my pet gets its throat ripped open, but in reality I believe that I would take drastic action to stop my pet being killed. It's not something to brag about and I certainly wouldn't be happy about it, but it's what I think I would do.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

More than being attacked?0 -
Hi just wanted to say i hope you feel a bit better this morning and your lovely dog is better too.
What an awful experience!!
I've had similar but not as aggresssive - my dog is tiny so i pick her up if theres any dogs running loose.
It makes me so angry, these stupid owners who have no care for other peoples dogs - i've often had people saying oh they only want to play when a big dog runs up to us - even jumping up on me to get to my dog!
Aside from attacking a small dog, they could seriously hurt them just 'playing'.
I am ultra vigilent when i walk my dog now but will think of bringing a walking stick as a deterrent if i need it.
Thing is this happens a lot and an experience like yours is horrifying - what about notifying your local paper?0 -
My dog (who had to be put to sleep last August) was attacked twice..once by a husky and once by a staffy and both times I got stuck in and dragged them off without any thought of being bitten myself.
If I still had a dog I would definitely be arming myself with something...spray or a chain lead as said before.DFW Nerd No 953 - Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -

Thank you so much rubyru - we are just about to go out with a friend and her mental spangle (springer-x-beagle!) so ours will have a lovely play and hopefully will not worry about what is around the next corner...I meanwhile...will be a wreck (with a big stick!)

It's so scarey being out with a small dog. I could pick mine up if necessary but generally attacks happen so fast that you don't have time to do it before they are fighting, and I have to say I would never try to pick him up in the middle of a fight. As much as I love my doglet, I couldn't put myself into the way of another dog's teeth, when bending down you are exposing your head and your face to attack. As awful as it sounds to have to worry about it, I generally have an exit route planned for self and dog just in case there is an aggressive one, and I plan where I walk. Generally busy areas such as parks with a lot of kids have well behaved dogs, whereas wilder places run the risk of more aggressive ones.0
