Sony Ericcson K800i - any opinions?
I am interested in getting this as my new phone but don't know of anyone who's had one to give me their opinion.
Can any nice MSE's give me their opinion of the phone.
I'm tempted because
a - good camera
b - radio
c - looks nice
d - nice user interface
I have only ever had Nokia phones so I am a bit dubious!!!
But after my horrendous experience with the Nokia N80 anything will probably be an improvement!!
Thanks in advance!!!

I am also looking at this phone to swap with my Nokia N70 but with the OP don't want to get a Nokia N73 in case I get the same problems as I had with the N70.Keep an EYE on this site**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? I have always had Nokias but this year on advice from others I went for the K800i. I was so impressed that even after losing it (only had it 3 weeks!) I shelled out the cash to buy another. The camera is fantastic and also has a flash. The only problems I have heard with Sony Eriksons is that sometimes the joystick wears out with excessive use.
I love my K800i and certainly wont be replacing it with anything else until I am due for another upgrade!"Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

Just a note that this phone can NOT be unlocked by a cornor shop for fiver or so.
Only the network operator can unlock these handsets. Otherwise this is currently best of the SE lot.0 -
I've had mine just over two weeks; I love it. Although the keypad is a bit small the tactile feedback is nice and I rarely mis-press a key while texting. The joystick feels pretty good, certainly better than the N73's, although whether it will have dust problems remains to be seen. I find myself cleaning it out every day.
The camera is amazing for a phone camera, doesn't hold a candle to any real Cybershots but gives some cheap digicams a run for their money.
It's a bit on the chunky side, though, considering the range of thin/light handsets available on the market.0 -
I've had mine for a couple of months and am pretty pleased with it overall. The still camera is probably as good as it gets for a camera phone.
The phone is also very good for web browsing. You can even use the RSS reader to keep up with the latest posts on this and other sites. Even the radio and MP3 player are good.
Only drawbacks I can find:- the lens cover sometimes comes open in my pocket: not sure how durable it'll be in the long term;
- the video camera is very poor: not a big deal for me but it might be for some;
- the web browser sometimes crashes on very large pages (such as this one);
- it has the same kind of joystick as more or less all Sony Ericsson phones: they don't wear out but they do get temperamental when they are clogged up with dust;
- the memory card is extra: make sure order the right kind - Memory Stick Micro (M2).
- the keypad is a bit small and fiddly for chubby fingers;
- old Sony Ericsson accessories such as car chargers won't work: they've changed the design of the connector.
Top tips:- install Opera Mini and Mobizines on it. These are a very nice supplements to the built-in browser;
- if you don't like the supplied headset for music listening, look on eBay for an adaptor that enables you to connect a pair of standard headphones.
