12 month warranty?

Hello there, My daughter bought an apple i phone last summer which had a twelve month warranty.In October she had to take it into the apple shop in Manchester (we live in york!) as there was a fault with it. On looking at it they decided to scrap it as it was not repairable.She says she was told that the new 12 month guarantee would start from that day. However, today, as the second phone would not work properly she has been in contact with apple again and after trying to restore the phone on the internet they decided to send her a new phone. The problem is that they insist that the 12 month guarantee is running from when she bought the original phone last summer and she feels that as it is a brand new phone again then the twelve month guarantee should start today. Can anyone throw any light on this (she is quite disillusioned with apple), thanks, big G

When a phone is replaced by Apple they'll give you a three month warranty on the replacement unless you have more than three months left on your warranty, in which case the original warranty expiry date will remain.

The only way you'll get a reasonable length of warranty from apple is if you purchase apple care for £55-60 .

Thanks wintermute. I am very surprised though, I thought that a company as big as apple would have confidence enough in its own products to guarantee them for 12 months when new!

same thing happmned with my itouch, however they messed up and gave me an additional years warranty free!
