Last year around this time I remember getting flights for 0.00 and taxes of £29.99 from heathrow to Belfast (which was cheaper than ryanair and easyjet going from gatwick, stans and luton) Now I went to book a trip again and the taxes for some days are £51.84! What the hell is that about?? Anyone know...

Taxes have increased since then.Gone ... or have I?0

APD has only gone up £1 - any other increase has been added by the airline.0

Recently landing charges at Heathrow went up (considerably) for short-haul/ domestic flights - not sure but suspect this affected flights to Ireland too.
Also, I think the days of very cheap flying are coming to an end - and that's not because of taxes and landing charges either.0 -
Yes, the days of cheap short haul flights from Heathrow will disappear on April 1st, the lowest departure fee levied by the airport is £20 on top of the governments £12 tax, so no more cheap deals.0
