Want to buy a pre-reg car MINI cooper 1.6 or FIESTA 1.6 TDCI Titanium. Can not decide which one. Budget of around £12k. Any help would be great.
Thanks

Diesel if doing over about 15k miles per year otherwise stick with a petrol.
Obvious answer re Mini or Fiesta is test drive them and that should help. Would think the Mini would hold its value better but apart from that can't really help as I've never been in either.0 -
I would go for the Fiesta, 12 k gets you a lot of Fiesta it doesn't get you much in Mini's. In 06/07 we bought a 05 Mini Cooper Chilli which we give silly money for and a 55 plate Fiesta Zetec S at the same time. The Fiesta was a nicer more fun car to drive and didn't have 1 problem in the time we owned it. The Mini looked good on the drive and ppl always commented on it but it was a pile of crap we stuck it in part exchange last year with about 30 k on the clock. I cant comment on the facelift model but the original new Mini's were overpriced and poor with many problems BMW never solved.0

I'd go for the fiesta
Even though BMW build the Mini, they arent full of BMW reliability
Google for faults and you'll be given a whole host of issues
The biggest issue they have/had was a failure of the power steering pump which is dangerousIf Adam and Eve were created first
.Does that mean we are all inbred0 -

yep the power stearing pump is the git to go and its an electrical one too so big bucks off my head from ordering one through my ex works in 06 was £300 + vat just for the part, i think watchdog had a program on it it was so bad at one point.
i think a few people had problems with the chilli pack also, its basically an ecu upgrade for better performance, remeber someone had to a new ecu as the upgrade fubared about 3 months after having it done at the dealers.0 -
There's no comparison really - Fiesta is a horrible car not worthy of it's reputation (we have 14 Fiestas at work - 1.4 TDCI Studio - one's been in the workshop for a few weeks now and the rest are just horrid to drive)0

Mini has historically had good long term residuals.
Fiesta have never had good residuals.
The MSE choice would be the Mini given these two choices.
I would have neither, not my bag.0 -
Can't believe I'm about to say this but here goes. What about a Citreon DS3? It does look nice (in my opinion) might stretch the budget though.0

If you have a budget of 12k, why limit yourself to these two cars?
Seems to me, you could get a whole lot more car for your money.
I've no experience of either car other than i see minicoopers on every other driveway. Seems to be a bit of a status symbol car. Look at me, i've arrived, - only available in red with a white roof :rotfl::rotfl:
I really would consider your options. You have many, with a budget of 12k.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?
