Could some kind person explain routers to me in words of one sylable please.
I have at the moment one laptop which is connected to an NTL modem. I now need to have another laptop in use.
So I understand I need a router, but which one? Are they easy to install?
What problems are there in store possibly?
Thank you in advance from a complete technophobe:D

Any router that is advertised as a "Cable Router" will do.Grumpelstiltskin wrote: »So I understand I need a router, but which one?
A semi trained lab rat can do it once they read the quick install guide.Grumpelstiltskin wrote: »Are they easy to install?
If you read the instructions before you start, none.Grumpelstiltskin wrote: »What problems are there in store possibly?Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -

Not quite true, some online games would probably require the opening of ports etc
Depends what the OPs going to use it for really:idea:0 -
Thanks for that guys, no online gaming and I'm a totally non trained lab rat:D:D
So it will need to be mega simple. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -
Presumably you want a wireless cable router, if you want to use your laptop remotely?
Though I'm not sure if non-wireless routers are even still available these days, at least for consumer markets. No free lunch, and no free laptop
