Orange and my useless blackberry!

Hello!
I have a contract with orange, I have a blackberry curve 8900. Since I got this ridiculous phone, I have had issues. It crashes constantly and takes forever to turn back on. I've sent it to be fixed, had it replaced ect ect many many times.
Anyway, it's now gotten to the point where it crashes 5 times a day and takes an hour to turn back on each time (therefore, leaving it completely useless for five hours a day.)
Anyway, my contract is up for renewal in May (on the 4th) which isn't too far away, but i am absolutely sick of my phone now! I went in store and they said I may possibly be able to upgrade early if I rang customer service, however they said they couldn't possibly do it, even though my phone is practically useless right now.
This basically leaves me with the option of waiting it out until May (or longer depending on what deals i am getting from retentions..) or buying myself out (£141 at this point) and getting a new contract elsewhere.
I was wondering if anyone had any advice? I know I could buy myself out and I was thinking of going for one of these deals with phone4u where you get a laptop as well as a phone (as I need a new laptop and as my contract is near ending it seems a good way to get one - especially as I am not looking for anything fancy, just something to let me browse the internet at home)
At the same time I think it may be easier to just wait it out and get a better deal (although as I am also considering an iPhone, reading the retention threads there are never any good iphone deals.)
Any advice appreciated.

I had a Blackberry Curve 8900 and it never let me down. Have you tried a battery pull, switch phone on remove battery for about 30 seconds and replace. If this didn't work then reload the software, download here https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/browseSoftware.do;jsessionid=0317D21164B46569AC79CBB92FB226F2.node2
I updated my Curve OS regularly, even had Orange and Vodafone software on my O2 phone. You just delete the vendor xml file and click on app loader and just let it run the update. Don't forget to do a backup first.0 -
Hi harriet.victoria,
Sorry to hear of the problems you are having with your Blackberry. The advice provided by mechanic is your best option until you are due to upgrade. It does sound unusual that your phone keeps repeatedly developing faults are you installing any applications when setting up the new phones? Has there been a replacement SIM sent out as this may also be a factor. If not give Customer Services a call on 150 and ask them to run a diagnostic, advise them you have had numerous replacement phones and see if they can arrange a replacement SIM for you to try.
Hope this helps.

1. Wait till May. You get a better deal when you are in the driving seat> PAYG temporary phones cost £10.01 up - far cheaper than a £140 buy out.
2. There are no free lunches - or lap tops. Work out how much the hardware is costing you by comparing the minutes/texts/Internet on a sim-only with whatever deal you can screw out of Orange or CPW/P4U.
3. If you had a sim-only now, you would not be having to wait till May.0 -
You can change your tariff once to a lower one. So if you have not done this already, do that first. Once its changed you can request a pac code and it should cost you less to leave early if they are not prepared to help you, then give your money to someone else.
I had nothing but problems with orange as well with my blackberry, thankfully we have parted ways.
you can get £90 cashback from quidco for an o2 blackberry (any , they are all free) for 500 mins unlimited o2 to o2 calls unlimited sms 500 data and free wifi. for £25.000 -
I have a Blackberry Curve which I took as a free upgrade to my existing contract in December. It worked fine until the week-end when the screen developed problems (horizontal lines). I rang Orange on Sunday morning and had a new handset this morning. Brilliant service thought I. However having set up the new handset I noticed that the keypad is very loose and moves around when using the keys. Although all the keys are working at the moment I am worried that it will only be a matter of time before some of them stop doing so.
I rang Orange and they said that I can send it back but only if I first take it into an Orange Shop to have the fault verified. As the nearest shop is a 25 mile roundtrip away and they want me to do this within 72 hours I am not very happy and in fact am unable to do this. I aksed why I hadn't had to have the first fault verified like this and they said it is because the phone would not work with that fault whereas the replacement phone is working, albeit with a shaky keypad.
I also discovered that the replacement phones are refurbs whereas the phone I have had for 3 months and have just had to return was new - this doesn't seem right or fair to me: a new phone breaks within 3 months and I get sent a refurbed one that works for now but has a loose keypad which will probably give up in the near future.
Any suggestions? What would you guys do?0 -
It wasnt new, it was three months old, the sale of goods act doesnt state that any replacement has to be new. Why not phone them back and just say one of the keys isnt working? They should just replace it again0
