New Router disconnects when I start webcam problem.

One thing I noted about my old BT Speedtouch router (a few years ago now) was that when I started apps that wanted to act as a streaming service/Server was that the firewall detected this as a flood attack and blocked all traffic for 10 minutes. I had to do a port forward to stop it happening.0

Yes it is 192.168.1.254
..it's pinging away merrily and webcam is on and staying connected/online.
Does this mean the only way to be sure that I stay online while using webcam is to run this CMD ping?0 -
Scoot,
That's really naff, presumably it showed up in the router logs?
Dan,
I wasn't expecting that to fix the problem, just trying to pinpoint if it is your connection to the router that is failing, or router to the internet. Could you test it for a bit, then control C the ping to see if it disconnects? .. it could just be a fluke.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

Yup .. used to show up as a flood attack and tell me traffick was blocked for 10 minutes... It does mention about it in the instructions .. I think its because of the amount of packets quickly sent from the same IP that confuses the firewall.
Also meant to say... I had a problem with my old WG111T doing the same thing as well. Whenever I started to download over 400Kbs it would shut down and I had to restart... Works fine with my WPN1110 -
Could there be a firmware update for the router?0

Oh well, the ping eventually timed out and dropped connection again.
I looked at the router and the dsl/internet lights are still on - shows my uptime as connected for 4 hours+ so looks like it's a pc to router problem rather than router to internet.

have a look in start, run, eventvwr
to see if there are any clues when it fails, also check the router logs
Are you using a software firewall?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
I doubt it will be PC to Router..... My lights used to stay on as well And still do with my netgear router but I have no connection. The lights really only show that the line has synced and ADSL is available but does not mean you are connected/ logged in0

I had similar problems with my D-Link dsl 504 when I attempted to use any of the sharing features of messenger. Google eventually led me to the solution which was to forward some ports on the router.
