Free media player?

Are there any good free media players I can use for my optical drive? Its come with nero 9 essentials, but it doesn't seem very good and I can't get it to play dvds?

WinAmp is free and works with non iPod MP3 players as well (no hunting round for copyright or compatibility)

However it could be that Windoze 7 has stopped recognising the DVD drive for some reason and nothing to do with media player at all. Just remove the DVD drivers in the control panel & restart the computer it should auto detect and reload the correct driver to suit.
