Meant to say if you want to be naughty you can add a dash of red wine when making the soup.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0

This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Just been to the butchers for some of his gorgeous organic pork and he had a piece of oxtail which I bought to try. Now I've never cooked it before so would be grateful for any advice
. I have a slow cooker - can I cook it in there and if so do I need to roast it first to get the best from it (like you do with bones for stock IYSWIM?)
There isn't much meat on it, and there are 4 people to feed so any ideas welcome!
Thanks girls (and guys)0 -

We had oxtail last Friday - delicious. The secret is long cooking, so a slow cooker is ideal. I did mine in the oven for 3 hours.
How much have you got ? I had about seven 3 inch long chunks which varied in thickness from about 6 inches (top of the tail) to 1 inch (end of the tail). It fed 5 amply.
I browned the pieces first then put it in a roasting tin with carrot, parsnip, celery, onion and red wine. I also added a bundle of herbs and some beef stock (leftover from a previous stew).0 -
yes long slow cooking is the key..make it the day before and cool it then put it in the fridge next day a layer of fat would have formed skim this off before warming up or freezing some0
