  • Don't know what all the fuss is about over a rooster crowing that's what they do, and no it wouldn't put me off renting a house it would be a pro point, for me anyway.
Be good to the young on their way up you might need them on your way down.
  • Perhaps you could avoid conducting your viewings between 3 and 5 in the morning?

Perhaps not refering to her as a "mad chicken lady" when showing prospective tenants around might be a sensible strategic move?

Wouldn't actually bother me at all - neighbours next to my mums have one and after a couple of days of it you just mentally tune it out.

In what way is she 'mad'? If you mean simply that she keesp chickens and a cockeral, well, I fail to see how that makes her mad.

Personally I find the sound pleasant, even comforting. If you live in a village, you get country sounds. If you live in a city, you get city noises. I know which I prefer! Take your choice.

This made me laugh as I was only chatting to a guy at work about the same thing reversed a few weeks back.

He keeps chickens and HAD a cockeral, he ended up with an ASBO due to the complaints from neighbours and had to get rid of the cockeral to a remote place in blackpool. So yes if you persist the same could happen to her. It would bother me tbh, he even agreed that it wasn't great as it started roosting every morning 3am on the dot!!

Yes a village albeit very grown up one now thanks to persimmon homes over the last 20 years or so!!! we are in the older part of the village (still on a housing development approox 40 yrs old) its not a village as in Goodnight Mr Tom!!

And as part of a non-urban society you are complaining about an aspect of rural life. My initial reaction to you to to get a life.
The old lady is not mad if she gets nice fresh eggs from the hens she undoubtedly has as well.
You remind me of previous owners of a house we had. Living in a village they complained - officially - about mud on the road. That made their life interesting as they couldn't understand the frankly off attitude nearly everyone else had about them after that. And they had a tractor trailer parked in the field over their rear view, blocking th evening sunshine for a year. Something to do with the farmer they'd created trouble for I believe.

I live, at present, 300 meters from an ambulance station where unlike the police or fire brigade, the drivers of the ambulances start the siren EVERY single time they leave the station whether there is any other traffic around to warn, or not.

Oh to swap for a few cockerals, bliss.

Oh, I thought ASBO's were for chavs? Perhaps the world would be a nicer place if everyone had an ASBO?
