I just got a text today from ITV, well, I hope so anyway. It came from +036075399 and read: itv: congratulations you are a winner to our top prize will call u soon

Does this seem legit? My partner and I do enter ITV competitions from time to time by the wording seems a bit dubious to me.

Any help is appreciated.

Personally if it was from ITV they would phone you. From what other members have said who've won via ITV they will always contact winners. Plus if it was a text from ITV it would either come from a number begining with 07 or a five digit number maybe 56309 for instance or even show the name ITV as the phone number.
It may be to nerve racking to have to wait but I wouldn't phone the number back like Zebedee says that is the calling code for Hungary so you could end up calling and costing you a packet.

I personally don't think it is from ITV. If it is then somebody needs help with their text language.

not too sure about this, when I won with ITV it was a phone call to notify me, and from what I understand they will keep phoning and will email as a last resort, really hope it's real but don't build up your hopes until you speak to someone who will tell you where they're from, what comp it is and what the prize is, they will also confirm your name, but if I was you I'd ask for a contact name and number before divulging any information.

I've been googling non stop trying to see if there is any scams involving itv text comps and can't find one thing at all, so I am still optimistic, though the wording and "u" instead of you is setting me up for a big let down :-/ I did call the number and it said it's not in service. I take it there wouldn't be calls to say you're a winner on Sundays so the wait is nerve-racking. We don't enter many comps at all. Only big and amazing prize's ones so if it's legit, it'll be awesome.

Never heard of ITV texting the big winners. I won some hair/makeup stuff through them and they even called for that. Personally, I wouldn't get your hopes up. Wouldn't just say the 'u' was suspicious, the whole line sounds dodgy to me. 'you are a winner to our top prize' isn't exactly the wording you'd expect!

Good luck, but please be careful about what info you divulge if you do get a call from anyone claiming to be from ITV. Very doubtful it's a legit one, I'm afraid.

Yeah I do think you're right. I just wonder how did they get my number and knew I'd entered an ITV comp. I'm sure I'm due a call with a demand for admin fee's etc

Sorry, it sounds ropey to me too. It might be worth calling ITV to check though - if nothing else, they should be interested to know about a possible scam involving them. Good luck to you.

Edit: just a thought - do you have any friends overseas who know you enter ITV comps and would think it was a funny joke to tell you you'd won one?
