  • My credit-card DF day is going to be on bonus payday next month, and I've been looking forward to it since the new year...it's going to be on the same weekend as the last game of the six nations Rugby, so I'm hoping for a good night out with plenty of beer and a big ole monkey off my back. Then it's back to saving for the good times ahead!
    DFW - DEBT FREEEEEE!

Every silver lining has its cloud.
  • We're going to keep up our snowballing figure for 3 months after DFD, putting the money aside for a special holiday instead.

We're already talking about where we might go!

I've no idea how I will celebrate but nearly there this the first month in 9 years I havent had a nationwide loan payment going out, I am now £465 a month better off, It felt strange going to buy new clothes, yes with tags so much so I couldnt do, so filled my car to brim with petrol and have booked it in to have some work done. I just want to pay whats left on my last loan just over 1k, and save, save ,save!!

Ditto, my lovely little car deserves a treat, it's been a complete trooper in the last few years.

And clothes....with tags  too scary for now...!
Perhaps some make up and hair dye if I manage to last that long without.

Then the money I was paying off debts will have to go into some sort of savings.

I have 17 months before I will be debt free and I will be celebrating by putting all the cash I was paying towards my debt into my savings account, I will save hard for a much needed new car (newish affordable car) :)

Debt free date: Sept 2014
  • I didnt do much on the day, but the next month I put my regular repayment towards an amazing holiday in Asia! We trekked for an unforgeable two weeks in Nepal, then I spent another week in Laos. It was fabulous.

Since then, I've been saving that same amount each month to build up an emergency fund that may someday grow into a deposit. I dont feel like I go without.

Best of luck - dream of the time when all that effort will be for saving for things you want, not for paying the banks!

Remember though - the tips on economy on petrol says you shouldn't fill up to the brim because the weight makes you use more petrol!:)
