How will you celebrate your debt free day?

I've been losing motivation recently but i've been thinking today of how it will feel knowing that i no longer owe a penny to anyone.

I keep a book of my debts vs income and flicking through it today i'm reading over notes i made in 2007. It really hit home how long i've been at it.

On my DFD i've decided going to burn my book, then go down the pub for celebratory pint! :T

Does anyone have any plans for that day they become free of their debts?
DFD: 21st June 2012

  • Became debt free mid Jan - went out for a meal with kids and tried not to stress about the (extra) price of desserts!! (about £5!)

It's a fabby feeling, so keep going - you'll get there.

    And then comes the saving.

    Which is equally as addictive.

It's a bit of a grind at times battling the debt demon - but so so good when it's gone.

  • I'm hoping to be debt free in September - I'm going to go out for a nice meal with OH that for once, I will pay for, and treat him to something he really wants instead of the other way around for a change! Then I'm going to start saving my a** off for a trip to Florida!

I can't wait to be debt free (should be this year sometime...trying to get them to accept F&F settlements but they're now playing ball!).

Anyway, think I would want to totally push the boat out when I'm debt free and go on an amazing holiday...am really wanting to go to Asia.

I agree with backinbusiness though - I've become totally OCD about not spending any money and I get the feeling I'm just going to want to save, save, save! Do need to reward myself though!

Good luck on your debt free journey! x

  • Although debt free to creditors in October 2010 this was due to a loan from family. My *official* dfd will be September this year. Long time coming, then its on to saving for the house!

Dfd will be celebrated by going out and knowing that after all the hard work and tearsover the past few years, it will all have been worth it.

    Good luck everyone xx

    You are soooooooo right lol

I would have been debt free earlier, but unlike Partickz hubby and I decided to get married before I was debt free. So we had been bad and used his credit card for some bits (have married a miser so hes good for me lol) so will pay that off in Mar/Apr so should be debt free in May.

Am very impressed by your sig Dreamer, your paying off shedloads!!!

    Sorry OP off topic...:o

  • I am looking forward to only having 1 credit card for emergencies only. I have got two on 0% percent deals, in fairness I could pay these off but am waiting to get ISA interest before I do so!
