Flights from New Zealand to UK

Can anyone explain why it costs more to fly from NZ TO UK as opposed to UK - NZ. Looked at lots of airlines/travel agents etc and the difference in price between the two is circa £500. This is the case no matter what time of year you travel.

Or to put it another way, there are more people in NZ who want to go to the UK than there are in the UK who want to go to NZ. Therefore the market reflects that demand.0
