Specialist compliance team letter? Tax credits

  • I had one in Oct or November. I spent several weeks on my days off trying to get through as I work 8-6 and they only 9-5 mon-fri. I gave up trying to ring them as never got through and it was costing me money. I did ring the normal tax credit line and they said they would put a note to say I had tried to ring. I have nothing to hide. I am still single so if they want to investigate they can be my guest.
  • I know i think a few peopkle just didn't ring! i think the wording of the letter is meant to rattle some people. I wish i had just not rang myself either.

Well the wording of the letter made it seem as if they had already decided I was a "couple" and I needed to ring to avoid the penalty. Well I was annoyed at their cheek and yes it did worry me which is why I sat on the phone but if they can`t be bothered to put enough people on the phone to answer their bizarre letters then I`m not going to try again.

That bit made me laugh about the bizarre letters! your not wrong! i wonder who decides how these letters should be worded, its like they've decided your on the fiddle before you have a chance to call.
I think maybe they're designed to worry those claiming wrongly, still makes the legitimate people anxious though, i thought someone had reported me! i have a few nosy neighbours. I have my brother calling round a lot especially when hes on leave from the Navy, my dad visits a lot. we live on top of eachother so it can be a bit in and out of eachothers houses sometimes.
Oh well not to worry, i think it'll be less of a shock when the next one comes.
