What would you have done?

I'd have said "Can I have mine without saliva please? I'm allergic."

Yuk...Joking aside, I would have let it go too, it would have been potentially embarrassing for her to point it out. Unfortunately, some people don't realise something like this is very off-putting for others. Maybe they are used to doing this with their children, and think nothing of doing it with other people. I totaly agree it's minging though! _pale_0 -
did you get sick? Did anyone else? You didn't mention it so I assume not, which suggests the modern obsession with germs is slightly hysterical - yes its not the politest thing to do but seeing as how no harms been done I wonder what the problem isPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

For me, it's not the fear of germs, it's more the thought of where her hands have been...It's the thought of eating a stranger's bodily fluids, basically! Even if it's not dangerous, it's hugely off-putting. You wouldn't fart in someone's face, so don't make them eat your saliva!

It's like when you go to a kids birthday party and the birthday boy/girl blows out the candles, usually spitting all over the cake in the process...yuk yuk!
Having someone's fingers poking about in your food is not good. Especially if she is licking her fingers inbetween. I can't believe that no-one said anything! I wouldn't eat it and I don't think I'd have been able to sit there and watch her do it either. Horrid!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -

whats the issue with shop assistants licking their fingers to open a carrier bag? you're not going to eat the bag are you, just carry it, and its hardly going to be sodden. there was probably more germs on the cash you handed to the shop assistant when you paid for your shopping, than ended up on your carrier bag if someone licked their fingers to open it.
OP I wouldn't have been impressed with the amount of licky-fingers all over the cake in your position, but I think I would have eaten some of it (ie the inside bits she hadn't had her fingers all over so much).0 -

lol i agree, and its generally not even the handles of the bag that are being handled anyway!
The cake thing tho...yuck!! I would have said i was on a diet too!!:coffee:0 -
Unless I was immunocomprimised in some way I would have eaten it.
It wasn't hygienic but how do you know who washes their hands after the loo? You dont know. You need bacteria and germs to build your immune system.0 -
Of course we all absorb other people's germs everyday, but the difference here is we don't see them! If you take the bus, chances are you are putting your hands on spit, snot, pee....without realising it. But if you saw someone spitting on a seat, you wouldn't then touch it, would you?
Ignorance is bliss! lol0 -
sounds like you have some hightened anxiety, most people most of the time mangage very well with a moderate amount of germs. Look at your own evidence, how many p!eople became ill. dont let anxiety stop youn from enjoying life:j0

the cashier is probably more at risk from the cash they have handled than you are from their spitPlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0
