OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.

AMF Bowling are doing their bowling for £1 again this half term.
Are there any near you?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
I was going to suggest look into any bowling offers too. Our Superbowl, is offerring gamers for £1 each next week, but only between 9-10am.0

Have you checked with council run leisure centres?
Locally to us they are doing free swimming lessons in the half term holidays.
Vue cinemas have the £1 kids club for films. No good for my too (in early years) as the films are more grown up, but very suitable for yours.
If you have a Vue do log on and have a look.0 -
A bottle of Calpol works wonders in the right quantity. Peace quite and chill time!! lol
Firstly, Calpol is not a sedative. It does not contain any ingredients that will calm a child who isn't otherwise ill.
Secondly, Calpol contains paracetamol which can cause irreversable and painful liver damage and even death if used in excess. Stick to the recommended dosage!
Thirdly I do realise you probably meant your post as a joke. It's still a potentially dangerous one though if someone reading your post doesn't quite understand that Calpol is a drug, and a potentially dangerous one at that. Best not joke about this sort of thing, eh?Val.0 -
Thanks MirrorImage, Heretolearn, Mrcow, Spendless, CountingPennies, lovely ideas!!
Valk_Scot- its ok, dont worry i am aware of the dangers so wouldnt dose my kids up on calopl although i am sure NaughtyJo was just joking!
Ok, i have found a brilliant site with local walks...not sure if i can post links on this site or not?
http://www.treasuretrails.co.uk/
Hope its ok to post that link???
Anyhow, if you cant see it, its a list of treasure trails! They are all over the country and you can download them for £5! Brilliant! Think i'll do one with the kids tomorrow if the weather is nice. We will pack a picnic and it says it will take about 2 hours, but i am sure if can take longer than that by the time we sto pfor lunch and take photos etc!0 -
I play 'beauty salons' with my kids. I get my foot lotions etc out all the stuff lurking from xmas toiletry sets. I am usually the client.
and then I request something like a foot massage. Very useful

Spendless- oh that sounds sooo nice....but i think my 2 boys (especially the 11 yr old) would look at me rather oddly if i asked them to massage my feet, lol!!Nice Idea though!0

I'm in Lancs now but originally from Devon. The ice rink at Plymouth pavillions has a cheap night; I think they call its cheapsk8. it's about £2.80 a session which is amazingly cheap. I pay £6 a session up here!
Failing that, if you can get hold of a GPS then geo caching is something that boys love to do. And, aside from the GPS it's totally free and gets everyone outside.0 -

Admittedly I introduced what a fab game this was at a younger age, but my (nearly) 11yo boy is loads better at it, than his 7yo sister and he's fab with tweezers too. Work on the little one and dress it up as sports massage.:rotfl::rotfl:And if your 11yo is as cheeky as mine, he will cotton on to asking for a small cash donation in return., though start low I once offerred £1 and discovered he'd been thinking more along the 10p line.
BTW I like the idea of giving the older one a meal to plan and make, will be pinching that idea.0
