  • when are people going to understand modern cars???

radio's are coded it maybe working in the car it came out before it was disconnected from the power. disconect power radio requires the code to unlock it its a security feature after all not profit for dealers if it was for profit they wouldnt give you the code when you buy new would they??

if it just says locked, you may get away with disconecting it leave it 10-15 mins and plug it back in may ask for the code again if it showed locked as soon as it was plugged in then it needs coding from the ecu side of things at a dealers or with your own software.

oh wait maybe its preventing theft of the stereo and helping us stop claiming off our full comp stereo cover maybe.

Why on earth would someone nick a stereo that only fits into one car? It's not like there's going to be much of a market for it!

Thieves will have contacts who can unlock them anyway! whilst regular Joe Bloggs changing his battery will have to go pay a dealership £20+.
It's effective only in kicking genuine owners in the teeth.

    It's like buying DVD's......

Pirated copy = insert DVD, watch movie
Genuine = insert DVD, watch piracy warnings, watch 6 unskippable trailers, get to main menu, watch more trailers and more warnings, watch movie.

How many sat navs are stolen from on top of car dash boards? How many are stolen when they're built into and only fit that one car?

It's nonsense, there's no need for coding standard fit radio's....... Most are even now coded to the cars ECU, yet they STILL have radio codes too!!

Thieves will have contacts who can unlock them anyway! yes but shortens the black market for them anyway scrappy dont take them and worthless thanks to the manufacturer codes so druggies and the like wont bother to pinch them as they cant be offloaded quickly for cash. whilst regular Joe Bloggs changing his battery will have to go pay a dealership £20+ joe bloggs should have checked all the documents when he bought the car for all relevant codes and stuff the codes are given to the owner from new purchase if that person was so incompetent to keep all his docs safe then yes he should be hit in the pocket for it, used older vehicles docs go missing it a fact of second hand cars and again falls to the buyer to check all docs are present including codes radio, sat nav,key fobs if their not there ask what the seller can do to obtain them.
It's effective only in kicking genuine owners in the teeth. genuin owners should take more care in thier documents or look for them before buying a car simple.

totally irrelevant, pirate copy's is stealing a film makers and publishers money. allot of people work hard to bring entertainment to us.

genuin copy's ensure your getting the best quality. trailer are skippable depending on dvd blueray player.

you answered this yourself theives will have contacts to unlock them themselfs! so manufacturers have taken it a step further to make them completely useless without propper software to code them to the ecu and then decode the stereo.

the only money they make is when a purchaser misslay his documents in wich case its humen error and shopuld pay a fee for the labour and equipment used dealerships have to buy their equipment that costs money the manufacturers dont set them and and going with everything all manufacturers suplly them is the code faults and software upgrades, and those who want ultimate ICE have to buy the OE fitment equipment dvd player screens subs and amps speakers and lets face it who pays £199+vat+fitting just for a headrest monitor and dvd player from a dealers no one, unless you really want it.

its becoming harder for the aftermarket to develop the stereo's to fit the dashbords of modern cars, so their answer is to get the contract for development of ICE in manufacteres cars. sony, alpine, pioneer, jvc, infinity, blaupunkt all have manufacturers contracts.

Can you please, tell me how? At one of the repairs shop that i've been, they told me there is a circuit which gives the command from processor to the eject engine and that can't be ordered because it's original and.... If you go to Ford they say "replace it". Could you give me a link, or something that can really help me?

    Thank you very much!

Talkford.com, Guy on there can repair some Ford stereo's.

The issue could be your 2005 car, The stereo maybe coded to the VIN number, So a direct replacement may not work
plug it in and it will see a different code and need a dealer to sort.

A 2nd hand stereo will be a cheaper option.
