Don't know how best to to pay for wedding in Cyprus! Advice much appreciated...

Hi all.

I have really been digging myself into research online and mainly here on MSE travel guides / travel money max and I just don't know what to do for the best!

My partner and I are getting married in Cyprus on 14th May this year and we have calculated our 'local' costs to be in the region of £4000. Approximately £2k of this needs to be handed over to various wedding suppliers in local currency (euros, cash only) and the other £2k can be paid in either cash (euros) or credit/debit cards.

We will have the full amount by the time of the wedding so no need for borrowing from credit but what is best to do? Change up full amount here and go over with euros? Load full amount onto debit card and withdraw when needed? Load prepaid credit card and use over there? Try to get new credit card (Halifax Clarity) to use and then pay off when we return? The possibilities are driving me mad and having read and re-read the same info I'm muddled with what would be most cost effective!

I would really appreciate any advice or shared experiences anyone has had with this to help us understand which might be the best choice.

Thanks in advance,
Nat.

    Sounds ok.

Your problem is going to be getting enough cash to pay that £2K - cards and ATMs have daily limits well below that figure. It might take you a week to get it together once you've arrived - and that's optimistic.

For that part you are probably going to have to get most of it here and take it with you. Use the travel money maximiser for a best rate.
