I sat and cried

As the title suggests, something on TV last night reminded me of how my ex abused me and I sat and cried. Is it just me or does anybody else get this???

    Get what..?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

    Ditto. It's sooo emotional! :o

Trazy, if you're watching something which stirs up memories, whether good or bad, it's bound to have an effect on some people.

I get upset at things on TV, yes. I've never been abused, so I can't comment on that, but it's natural that seeing things that are similar to our own experiences will bring back memories, good or bad. Just be thankful that you are out of it now, and able to move on.

It's normal that something can happen that can evoke memories both good and bad,
Not just a Tv programme, something you read; maybe something you see in the street; even a smell can remind you of another time in your life.

  • My mum very nearly suceeded in taking her own life 5yrs ago. 2yrs after, there was a documentary on tv about suicide and I sobbed my heart out, it was as though the programme gave me permission to feel what I had been feeling - the anger, resentment, hurt, etc. I actually think that programme was a big part of my 'therapy'.

  • Why else do the BBC put up at the end, 'if you were affected by anything in this programme blah blah'
