I'm paying Lowell for 2 seperate companies I owe money to, I don't think they're a scam company, but if you don't know what the debt's for, go back to your credit file and tie it up, if you can't, ask them to prove what it's for.Sealed Pot Challenge member 1315

I can sure these debts are not mine.0 -

I've had letters like this in the past - I think they just pull names out of the hat, hoping that some mugs will pay up!
I got one from Fredrickson International last year and sent them back a combination of the prove it letter and an invoice, telling them that if I had to use anymore of my time opening, reading and answering their letters; then I would charge them £35 for each letter received.
Nothing received since:D
well. your letter is so cool , can I have it?0 -

I was only asking if it could be from a catalogue. I'm not having 'fun' with you - only trying to give you help. I will get the hell out of 'your' thread - can't be bothered.
BTW - if my post offended you so much, why did you thank me for it?!¿Alguien ha visto a mi nave espacial?

Dear Sir/Madam
Ref: xxxxxxxxxxx
You have contacted us regarding the account with the above reference number, which you claim is owed by ourselves.
We would point out that we have no knowledge of any such debt being owed to The Loan Company.
We are familiar with the ‘Office of Fair Trading Debt Collection Guidance’ which states that it is unfair to send demands for payment to an individual when it is uncertain that they are the debtor in question.
We would also point out that the OFT say under the Guidance that it is unfair to pursue third parties for payment when they are not liable. In not ceasing collection activity whilst investigating a reasonably queried or disputed debt you are using deceptive/and or unfair methods.
Furthermore, ignoring and/or disregarding claims that debts have been settled or are disputed and continuing to make unjustified demands for payment amounts to physical/psychological harassment.
What you need to do now
It is very important that you do one of the following things as soon as possible:
1. provide evidence as to our liability for the debt in question.
2. confirm in writing that this matter is now closed.
Otherwise we will have no option but to make a complaint to the trading standards department and consider informing the OFT of your actions.
We look forward to your reply.
Yours faithfully
