When to book flights at Christmas

I am going to go to Colombia for Christmas.
Does anyone know when is the best time to book?

Is there anyway I can see what the prices were for last Christmas when booked at different times of the year?

It is peak time, so perhaps compare with other peak times such as Easter and also look at flights at mid March, this should give you a feel for fares.
Also look at flights starting in Madrid.

  • There are many variables that could make it impossible to guarantee the correct answer.

However, statistically, the best time to be booking Christmas flights would be today, followed by the day after, followed by the day after that (and so on). Everyday you leave it, it will get a little bit more expensive (bar a possible blip which you can't predict).
  • Book it when you see a price you like.. believe me!

    I agree with this.

I booked mine a couple of weeks ago and they're already £70 more expensive if you were to book them today. I know last year that if I'd left it until later in the year they were almost double in price.

True but if you could see what the prices were at different times last year it would be a good guide.

Any blips from this day onwards will be to things that are unpredictable - i.e. a group booking cancelling. Once airlines have released their fares, variations in fares (i.e. sale fares) will not be introduced for the period you are travelling (aka PEAK season).

As well as the cheaper fares being booked, almost all airlines have / or are in the process of increasing their fuel surcharges - and almost all will have done this by March 1st. i.e BA have already introduced the increase, Delta have just announced it. So the cheapest seat to Bogota on Delta will be about £40 more in a week, even if they do not sell a single more seat on your flights between now and then.
