- Just received £9.08 from Quidco
- Confirmation booked yesterday for a big department store to "rent" my little car tomorrow for the day, £250 :j - that's £250 that doesn't need to come out of the offset mortgage for his garage bill!
- Handmade a birthday card and some chocolate fudge with DS for the Grandma-in-law - Happy 95th, Gigs!
- Only spent £60 on fuel the whole of July, rather than the usual £300, thanks to DH and his herniated disc preventing him from commuting - one small positive from all that pain he's been through.

Hi,
Quick question and being a bit nosey-how many of you are sticklers for putting these bits of money aside and using them to overpay and if so how much have these overpayments helped to reduce your mortgage? I've not been doing anything like it so far-but have been watching the tennis doing some sums and thinking i should be better at actually keeping track and making overpayments once a month.
Also read on another thread of someone who checks their bank balance daily and rounds up to the nearest £1 and makes this overpayment on their mortgage. Thinking I might start doing this on a weekly basis (if I do it on a daily basis I will last about 3 days!) and round up to the nearest £5, or on a monthly basis and round up to nearest £10-has anyone tried anything similar.
Anyway small things:
-downloaded quidco mobile-checked in to tesco (5p cashback)
-bought tesco everday value bits rather than normal tesco/branded- saving between £3-£4
slow cooking a nice beef and ale pie which should do for a couple of meals at least and maybe freeze a portion or 2 as well....Credit cards: April 2009-£1800, 1 March 2010-£0 :j
Car: June 2009-£500, March 2010-£200 September 2010-£0
Mortgage-October 2009-£134, 290.64. February 2010=£133,854. January 2011-£131, 718.740 -

I took out a 30k BTL mortgage a few years ago which I am paying off as quickly as possible (just coming up for 3 years, will be paid off by Dec). After the first few months I kept a record - here's how it's looking. The days saved is the number of days has if the payment knocked a month off the end by date - sometimes the odd £3.48 makes all the difference. Sorry about format.

I religiously put aside all this money in a separate account and add it to the pre-determined OP amount. How much I have saved, I have never bothered to calculate as I am comfortable to know that the debt burden is marginally eased.
GG has provided her figures though, so it should give you a good idea.

I've been lurking on here for a long while and its time to post something for a change! Our current account is set up so that at the end of each month any money in the account over a set figure is skimmed off and paid into our mortgage. My husband set it up so that it happens automatically.MFiT-T3 Challenge 1070 -
