    Good morning all,
We do not have any mare's tail luckily, but we do have a lot of thistles and dock.
Read the Lasagna gardening article and think we might try this on a bed in the Autumn.
It has rained overnight - but I don't know how much yet. It's quite cloudy and there are grumblings of thunder.
Starting to eat home grown salad leaves as well as loads of everlasting spinach.

Ceridwen we have willow herb growing in with our strawberries and saffron. How do you use it as a skin cream or lotion?
I'll be back again, but this thread grows like Topsy and can be a challenge to keep up with, x

I am planning more on using it for food purposes - when I can find a suitable supply of it personally.

Had a quick look online googling round re cosmetic purposes and quick scan of Susun Weed's website - nowt...just a lot of mentions that its good for dry skin and outbreaks of skin problems. Will try to find time later to check through my "library" and see if I can find any recipes..

DS1 is at home being homeschooled - so we are spending loads of time creating a garden ( you can cover loads of the curriculum ou there)

Here is what we have doe in our south facing window beside our desks

YOu will have to start saving bottles - but it is fascinating. Using it mostly for herbs just now - but going to try cherry tomatoes and mini courgettes and aubergines later in the season.

Great fun doing a scavenger hunt to find all the bits

I know I mainly lurk and hardly know you all - but I'm a bit fed up and just want to off-load. Basically all my nearest and dearest seem to be having it tough:

OH has an old leg injury which has flared up. It is now so bad that he can't bend his leg and keeps on having to grab hold of something to stop himself collapsing. He won't see anybody about it because "it was his own fault" (he did it doing a sport he enjoyed). Finally I got him to go to the minor injuries clinic yesterday where they told him to make an emergency appointment with his GP. It breaks my heart to see him hobbling like an old man.

My dad (in his 90's) has got a v. bad chest infection, he's really toiling as he can't sleep and is struggling to get around. We're stil waiting to see if he will be fit to travel (by train) tomorrow as he and mum were meant to be coming to visit us.

The reason for their visit is because it's mum's birthday on Monday, but she's got to go and see the cardiologist on Friday as she is having alot of breathless attacks (she's already had a stent fitted and I'm guessing she might need another). So the idea was to have them to stay, give them a nice relaxing break and take her mind off things. But now she's stressed about dad (and the doctor's told her no alcohol until she's seen the specialist!)

So I know lots of people have it worse, and I know it's off-topic, but I'm just feeling a bit powerless that I can't really do anything to help.

7 week wonder ((hugs)) to you and your family and I hope things improve soon. My own life and what I've seen of friends' etc seems to indicate that these troubles come along in groups, like delayed buses, if you'll pardon the similie. Be easier all around if we could have our troubles singly so that we could devote all our resourses to each one and not feel like hiding under the duvet until it all goes away. My two pennor'th would be to look after yourself so that you can look after your loved ones; eat your greens and get to bed early enough to face the new day. Failing that, eat a lot of chocolate and come on here for some mutual support. Love and peas GQ x

didn't want to read and run. I think Grey Queen is right and that troubles come not singly but in battalions (don't think I got that quote quite right, but still..). You just have to keep plugging away and eventually you realise that you've got through. Sending cyber hugs
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

    Morning all

7WW - hugs - agreed that things never hit on their own - they always come in floods but most you can do at times is treat water and hope for the best. Good luck and sendign you positive vibes.

Just wanted to share my good news - as of today I am 100% DEBT FREE! :j:T:j:T:j:T:j:T:D:D:D:D:D:D
I had two debts that I was tied into after my win last year - one was a catalogue repayment which was the lowest debt I had and had the letter this morning to say the balance has been cleared.
The second was my mobile contract which is now -£15 in the account so I happy about that too as it means I now have nothing on credit and my rating should start to improve again now. So as of today officially I have no debt! no repayments outstanding! No repayment plans etc :D:D:D so the future is looking rather bright now.

although I have to sit in today and await my first spend since becoming debt free and returning to work - I ordered holly a new buggy as her old one is now impractical and just too big to do anything with because it folds over itself not an umbrella fold. So I looked abotu and found one I liked for £70 but I like to know its not been damaged in any way since its for babe. So thats coming today for her. Am selling her old travel system now though - along with her baby bath/top and tail bowl and her baby carrier as I no longer need them.
    Time to find me again

anguk That was OH's concerns too. He thought it was a good idea but thought it would mark the walls. Boo!! Back to the drawing board.

ceridwen My dad used to make all that sort of stuff out of old wooden bread boards like these

MG That looks like a great system. I think there might even be a hydroponics shop near us. I must go check it out.

7WW Hope everyone feel a lot better soon
