    (((Mrs VP)))

Can't believe we've had four sunny days for a UK bank holiday weekend. Another good day in the garden today. Dwarf beans and sweet corn have been planted out, runner beans are in and short rows of beetroot and spinach sown. I also put in some extra peas in a container, to be used for pea shoot salad.

Back to work tomorrow, but only for three days, then I have a week off. My job will almost certainly be finishing in mid-June, so trying to get prepared for that while the money is still coming in. As long as nothing breaks down, the only big things we might be spending on are an extra water butt (necessary with all the food-growing we're doing this year I think), a second freezer and a small greenhouse. The last two are nice-to-haves rather than must-haves, so will wait a bit and see how the finances are looking. I keep looking out for all of these on Freecycle, but no luck so far.

need to have a moan too
it's our wedding anniversary today, even though money is tight i made sure i bought DH a card, reminded him on saturday to go to the card shop to get me a card, got up this morning wrote his card out, he got up, took one look at it and that was it, i made DD give him it to open, he opened it, said thanks and that was it, not even a 'happy anniversary babe' was said to me............ then he went out to bl**dy work!!!!!!!!!!!!

He isn`t the only one dollyd, my dh is kind and thoughtful but he didn`t even get me ANYTHING for our ruby wedding. Don`t take it to heart too much, it is more important that he is a good husband to you

I tell myself that I won`t ever mention how let down I felt, even if I get mad at him. I know he would be upset if he thought I was upset.

    Mrs VP , so sorry.

Do you think if you were less forgiving, you would have less to forgive?

I mean you have been the one to make all the effort and he has been able to sit back and think about what he doesn't have. If what he didn't have was you, (or he had the prospect of not having you), that would focus his mind in a hurry.

I'm trying to be charitable here and maybe the fact he is depressed makes him unable to feel proper empathy. In other words, he maybe doesn't mean it, and doesn't realise what impact it is having on you. But depressed or not he should be able to see with the rational part of his mind what he risks losing.

I hope you can get through this in the best way for you. But you will always have the consolation that you have nothing to reproach yourself with - no one could have done more or tried harder
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Another busy day sowing mange tout, french beans and purple flowering brocolli at the lottie here too :)

Potatoes are through and the shallots and onions look really green and perky :) Managed to pick enough hubarb to make a rhubarb & ginger crumble for tea

Have an exceedingly fine crop of thistles, burdocks and twitch grass coming through as well :rotfl: lopped and cropped as many as possible but the ground is like concrete so very hard to dig deep enough to get the whole root.

The plot next to ours is not being worked and the weeds are taking hold with dramatic speed - what is allotment etiquette in this situation? - is it strictly hands off? or would we be allowed to keep it topped to prevent the spread of weed seed??

Fingers crossed for rain this week - spent an hour and a half watering up with watering can tonight as hosepipe watering is banned on the allotment.

Didn't do as much as I hoped today due to a lousy migraine. Watered 'crops' and harvested some (says it very quietly!!) kale to add to tea, which luckily I made in Sc last night cos I couldnt have faced cooking today. Managed to turn up Ds's curtains and lie about like a victorian heroine - to no avail as Oh wasn't here.

I guess from earlier posts my day could have been worse, Im just sending hugs, and as you can see, every one is here for you both.

Mardatha I will read all the book when my brains in gear..wanders off to find the 50lbs of beef she left lying about.....:rotfl:
