Hugs to all who are having bad days. GQ I really feel for you, we know all about bad neighbours and their effect on your life.

Things have ground to a halt a bit here at Chateau ginnyknit as I have broken my collar bone again. As a carer you tend to ignore your own health till it bites you in the bum. To make matters worse we got a letter today regarding our huge rent arrears - what rent arrears???? Oh all but collapsed. As the housing officer was out we had to wait for her to ring back - it felt like hours and OH was getting more and more upset. Turns out after huge apologys, that a trainee had been set the job of checking accounts and sent a letter to the wrong person and address. Oh was ready to phone the bank and go mad at them for not paying the rent for 4 months and losing our money. He has now gone for a lie down.

Going cold turkey on mags is one of the best MSE things I've done. I usually bought two a month....so there is that expense gone, plus I don't feel the need to buy any of the stuff they push in editorials...another expense gone, and feel less pressure about going without....priceless! Occasionally buy one for the free gift....but find, although its taken a few years, I'm just not as interested!

I find the same, I save the money on the mags and don't feel hard done by that I can't buy the latest whateveritmightbethatlooksveryglossy...:D It's taken a while but I've broken the habit.

Where'd you see that about the UK banks Mardatha? I saw the rumours that Allied Irish Bank might be about to miss an interest payment on its bonds but not about the UK banks.

It always makes you wonder a bit when some banks are paying above the going rate. Mind you even that's not much. Lord help us if we had to live off our savings
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Anyone recommend good (cheapish) freezer containers? I have a selection from Ikea but would rather have a load the same size.

I've started saving my margarine tubs!!! All the same size and FREE!

I have also been saving my 4pt bottles and cutting off the tops for plant pots to start off my seedlings.

:(Ginnyknit, sorry to hear you have a broken collar bone. I broke the left one twice in childhood after the GP telling my parents that it would never break again. The second time it wasn't known about and self-set at a functional but interesting angle......Hope you're soon on the mend.

:( The dental anaesthia from this morning is just wearign off and it's starting to get sore. Think it'll be something soupy and soft for tea tonight as I feel a bit in need of TLC. Will be administering my favourite medicing (cream of tomato soup, basics range not that overpriced one from H***z of course).

(((Hugs to all and catch you up tomorrow))

Grey Queen I'd be popping round to the chemist for some decent painkillers after a root-session at the dentist. I've had root-canal work so I know what it's like and I think more than a therapeutic tomato soup might be needed, especially at bed-time.

    YES, WHERE IS GAILEY?

I read in the survivalist forums that 2 major UK banks might be going to fail and that's all they said. I asked which ones but nobody answered.

Things are very definitely feeling tough here, still no mortgage offer, but daily demands for more papers to be sent recorded delivery, it is costing us money every day it goes on, as we are in a hurry the solicitor has had to start searches without us having a formal offer on the table, otherwise we will not be able to complete in time to leave here, and whilst I am prepared to overstay our eviction by a couple of weeks - the LL are already getting nasty and we arent at the date yet (never mind that I havent told them we may not meet their date). This weeks inspection went along the lines of - I assume all the kitchen appliances are staying - errr no they are all ours - can you prove it?? - err yes there are inventory photos showing empty kitchen. Its all exhausting and very upsetting that they have turned so outright nasty, last week they went berserk when I said I was taking my lightshades!!

Yellow ball has disappeared meaning no line drying of washing, so I have decided to try to wait a fw days and hope it comes back before I resort to tumble dryer.

On the positive side my seeds are looking good and the kids are all eager to plant more, so have promised that next week when they are off I will let them plant more!!

We bought a few house ones recently and tbh I thought wow.....how many ££££ did I waste on this over the years. The ones I miss are the ones I managed to convince my parents to stop buying....architectural digest and an American Magazine, that since folded. I get a cooking magazine when I'm away...as a flavour of where I've been. But regular mags are out an I feel LIBERATED!:o

a magazine is usually my only treat each month, always the same mag, i really should buy a subscription, but thinking about it, i've bought the same mag for around 4 years and i used to save all the recipes etc and when i binned all the cuttings, they were just a rehash of the same recipes, i guess i really don't need that mag or any other mag, i can get recipes on the net, exercises on the net, healthy eating articles on the net....... hmmm, i'm going to put to the back of my mind when the mag is due out so i don't go and buy it........ if anyone wants to help me, please remind me that the 7th April does not exist!!!! :rotfl::rotfl:
