    Ear plugs work thank you.
We popped round and explained how the walls are quite thin in the alcove area due to fireplaces etc and said if they hear us to let us know as we cannot hear ourselves but we got short shrift (we popped round becuse her music was so loud 3 pictures on the alcove wall fell off.....?)However she did turn it down which we were grateful for.

When her man got back later that night they had a massive barney which I thought we had caused but they have them most days so I think they are just the noisy sort and we have just been so lucky up until now with the best neighbours.

But no more loud music and once we are in bed and the ear plugs go in we get to sleep.....pleased as hubbie has lost another two colleagues at work so the work load increases dramatically so he needs his sleep

Good to hear you're achieving some sort of solution to the problem.

I certainly know how, at the least, having disturbed sleep certainly results in tiredness and lack of motivation for getting on with one's life. Beyond that - then, yes, I can well believe that having one's sleep disturbed regularly could easily result in health problems. I have also experienced that having disturbed sleep can result in emotional/illogical thinking and not making the best decisions possible from a "clear head" position about one's own life - grrrr..

    Thanks Ceridwen.
I am hoping things will settle, I don't want to fall out with anyone.

We have fog here today so my washing won't dry just yet but the sun yesterday was lovely so a NSD for us on Sunday and DH got out on his mountain bike plus leftovers for tea so a good day really.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Well, anoter challenge. The documents relating to the conditions of our house purchase last year, don't match. Looks like we're going to take on another costly rectification of something the previous owners (the LA) should have done and could have done more cheaply but are palming onto us...not even on our land. :(

So, another notch to tighten on the belt. :(

This morning the house is a tip and I'm about to head over to fly lady but I have a headache and would rather be heading back to bed!
  • Morning all

sons girlfriend waters broke in the night, 3 weeks early, having some pain but if nothing significant happens today going to start her off tomorrow morning, still havnt finished croched blanket for baby, i better get a shift on.

needed a new carpet for bedroom, went to carpet right, was £171, reduced to £107, salesman gave me a further 10% off but when i got to till, it had been reduced to £65 because it was discontinued, bargin of the week for me :D

allotment has been rotavated and is looking good:o got some free flower buckets from coop to plant salad in back yard.

OH still hasnt had any work so have not been able to book holiday. was talking to mil, her car insurance has shot up this year by £100, shes 70 and been driving for years.

noticed alot of the normal food items i buy has shot up, especially oil.

  • car is in for it's MOT today and i am totally dreading later :( we just know it's going to fail and cost a spectacular amount of money to repair :(
have gone so over budget on the grocery front this month :(
bought the home insurance for the year, i wanted to go monthly but DH insisted on yearly so things are ridiculously tight now
need to reign in our spending loads, petrols costing a fortune so we are cutting back loads on using the car, grocery spending needs to be reigned in too, i know we can live off £100 a month but for some reason i keep going over it, DH is spending far too much on booze, still need to sort out a 0% CC so we can cut how much we are paying in interest - this months bill just came and we haven't even paid off anything in the end....... £50 SO(min payment is around £42 pm) but bl**dy payment protection  meant that we ended up +£6 instead of being down on the balance...... really need DH to ring up to cancel the payment protection ............. i really need to look around for a 0% card

gonna go through all my reciepts later and see what i can cut back on/get rid of and see where else we can cut back

actually can think of one straight away, i'm sat here on the lappy with the tv on...... am i watching the tv?? am i heck so that's getting turned off, as is all the other plugs that don't need to be on...... also going back to some OS stuff and gonna get the kettle on and fill the flask up so not constantly boiling the kettle

  • I'm currently on maternity leave (baby is now 4 weeks and absolutely gorgeous) I stupidly thought that maternity leave wouldn't have that big effect on finances :rotfl::rotfl: (what was I thinking) but really seeing the effect and this is only month 1  This thread is going to come in very handy, if I can keep up with it.

On a plus note I am saving money baby wise in the following ways:
    • Breastfeeding
    • Hand-me-down clothes, cot etc
    • Adapted nursing bras I was given by using fastenings from old bra
    • Accessing free groups through Sure Start
    • Joining all the 'baby groups' and using coupons
Our biggest downfall at the moment is the grocery shopping, so I am going to do an online shop so I am not tempted and I will not have to visit the local shop and spend a fortune when all I needed was some milk.

I hope your baby arrives soon gailey.
