Just had a lovely dinner that both my DH and DS said was delicious. I had a little bit of chicken left over from a roast we had yesterday and a couple of slices from a small gammon joint from Saturday - neither enough to feed one person, other than perhaps in a small sandwich. I also had some carrots and cabbage left over from dinner yesterday. I cut up the chicken and gammon and mixed them with the carrots and cabbage. I put these in the base of an ovenproof dish and covered with 1 pint of home made cheese sauce (made with made-up powdered milk). I made some mash potato and covered the cheesy mixture, like a shepherds pie. Sprinked with breadcrumbs and baked in the oven at 200 deg for 20 mins. Cannot believe how much this made - enough to feed 6 (had lots of veg left). As there are only three of us, guess what we are having for dinner tomorrow, or I may even freeze what is left for another day!0

Your kindness knows no bounds, dear OSers. Thank you all so much for your supportive posts and pm's. Thank you for sharing with me about your own loved ones who have passed away, and how coping with the crippling grief does get easier. We found out today that Dad's post mortem was last Wednesday, though the coroners office failed to notify us despite telling us they would.
The body of my dear Dad has not been released from the coroner at this point, so we are none the wiser as to when the funeral will be.
I have told mum about all the wonderuful supportive comments here and on my blog and via email and pm and we are both so very thankful to you all.
(((hugs)))
Now for the OS bit of the post, made a big batch of cookie dough up this evening and made about a dozen or so dropped scones with cherries in. The cookie dough is going to be refridgerated as i have found that despite all my previous efforts of using my halogen oven for baking, not working out....i seem to have hit on baking my bread in there and cookies. It works out much more economically for me to use the halogen than putting the cooker oven on.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Sending hugs Katholicos, sounds like you are keeping busy, it does help a little doesnt it but give yourself some time to sit and think too.
Well done Kezlou, I dream of paying off something but thanks to CCCS I am getting nearer to being solvent - I think an economy party may be in order when I achieve that 0 balance!
Having a bad day today, the light at the end of the tunnel is particularly dim and my attempts to please people are not remotely working. Still tomorrow is another day so I will dust myself off and start all over again.Clearing the junk to travel light

Swan upstairs Ginny- mind to thump feet on every step; slam bedroom door; get into bed with a hot bottle; let them get on wi it !
I can be juvenile with the best of them LOL0 -
Ah..but some people seem determined not to BE pleased....so dont blame yourself Ginny if you cant please them (obviously cant tell from the other side of a screen if these people are in the "cant be pleased by anyone" category - but think about it to see whether this is down to anything to do with YOU or whether its just the way THEY are....).
Hope that light (at the end of tunnel) gets brighter soon.0 -
ginny be like have a huge fit, then promptly lay on sofa in a sulk. OH then comes over armer with tea and cheese toastie:D.
who says being a little get doesn't get ya own way.
Just had some more news, the tax office have sent OH a letter saying he's overpaid on tax. So they apparently sending him a cheque for £330 :j:j:j:j.
So i've been the sensible one and said to OH to put it in his account and leave it there as a car fund. Now he's think i'm mad, as the tax isn't due till july. So i've put his mind at rest and said if we really need it i'll just transfer it to our account. The way our finances are set up i have a TPM on his account so i have full access to it through online banking. So its not like i couldn't get the money anyways. But if my plan works, pay for 12 months tax and get the MOT sorted. Hopefully we'll be able to put some away for the car insurance deposit as well.:DGood to see you on kath, its great having gardening as a hobby, as it will help to grieve as well as remembering all the happy memories you both had.0 -
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your dear dad Katholicos. I lost mine 15 years ago and still miss him all the time. It does get easier though. Hold on to your happiest memories of him and talk about him often.
Kezlou and LannyLee, well done on getting those debts shifted.0 -

I don't post very often, tend to have fits and spurts, but just want to say thank you to you all. I read most days and try to catch up and am so glad that you are back on old stye because it wasnt the same over in the arms. Anyway, just wanted to say that I have made soup today and used carrot and potato peelings. Where else would I have learned to do that but on here. Times are tough and they are getting tougher. Every time I go shopping prices have gone up and I was so pleased with myself as I carefully saved my potato peel. Hubby came in and was about to throw them away. You Should have seen his face! He thinks I have lost the plot. Right I shall go back and find out where I am up to, Friday or Saturday I think so a lot to catch up on.Second purse £101/100
