Any AOL users? anyone else got this problem?

  • So it sounds like some glitch in the AOL browser/software. If you really do like AOL 9 then maybe uninstall/reinstall and see if it fixes the problem. Or...just use a different browser :)

I presume you didn't use AOL's browser to open the email? i think that is the problem as as i said above i have no problems if i log into my email account through internet explorer.

No, AOL aren't my provider anymore, but I still retained an old email address and can check it at aol.co.uk - I used firefox btw.

How do you still retain you old email address? i thought if you changed provider that was it, you couldn't use that email address anymore.
I have been thinking of changing provider for a while now but the whole process terrifies me and to be honest i really have no idea who would be best to go with. A lot of my friends in my area are with BT and don't have any problems but it's a case of what if i leave AOL and BT are even worse.

I think i will access my emails though internet explorer until AOL sort themselves out. I have AOL9.1 but my daughters both still use 9 on their laptops, its doing it to them as well so i don't know what it is. :(
  • I think AOL are one of the few providers that let you keep your email addresses/screen names when you leave. In fact anyone can register now for an AOL email address just the same as Gmail,Yahoo etc.

As for changing ISP, well I was very happy to leave AOL a few years ago :p but that all comes down to what other ISPs are available in your area - check the Samknows website to see what your options could be. But if you're otherwise happy with AOL broadband and service in general and this problem is just a browser/software glitch then it might just be a lot easier to uninstall the AOL 9 software from all computers. Your router is already set up and connected online, it's then just a case of pc/laptops connection via ethernet/wireless and Windows does that perfectly well without AOL 9's "help".
  • I have been with AOL for at least five years, recent 25% increase in my subscription prompted me to change providers. With BT cheaper, and unusually a lot faster..... aol at peak times Dropped download speed by around 75%! BT seem to offer the same high speed irrelevant of time of day. Also all AOL emails still work, master screen name and all other accounts linked to it.
