Cyclists who go along in a 'peleton' on the public road

  • Maybe there's between 4-12 of them.......they cycle two or three abreast making overtaking them a lot trickier.

Personally I get annoyed at the cars taking up the whole road making overtaking them a lot trickier. ;)

They've usually only got one person in but they take up as much room as 4 bicycles.

I get held up far more by cars when riding than I delay cars. Of course I do ride in the city a lot...

Especially the imbeciles who have no lane discipline whatsoever, where you get one car practically on the pavement and others half way across the centre lane, make filtering impossible .

P.S It is MUCH easier to overtake a peloton than a long line of single file cyclists!

Exactly, but unfortunately drivers just see red mist when a cyclist is in the way.

Cyclists have more right to be on the roads than any driven motorised vehicle...... Cyclists and pedestrians cannot have their right to use the highways removed

You can use an ASBO to do this, though it's rare. I recall them using one to stop some old lady using her invalid carriage on a dual carriageway once. No reason why you couldn't do the same thing to a cyclist.

In reality it's unlikely to ever happen, but I'd like to see it used on the Critical Mass idiots.

^^ I don't know if this is true, but still a driver has to be given permission to use the roads and can have this removed.... Where as a cyclist/pedestrian has permission from the moment they're born and can apparently only be stopped via legal proceedings.

I don't cycle a lot and I do tend to transport my bike out to local woodlands to do my riding, I find it just too scary on the roads, especially as the bike wasn't cheap.... I recall years ago filtering down a long traffic jam (2 lanes) and people trying to block me and even opening car doors into me! The attitude of drivers is far worse now than it was back then!
