Cyclists who go along in a 'peleton' on the public road

Maybe there's between 4-12 of them.......they cycle two or three abreast making overtaking them a lot trickier.
I do a bit of cycling myself so I feel empathy, but you do wonder sometimes if they're just in their own wibbly wobbly world thinking they're ascending Alp Duez in 'Le Tour' or whatever.
Well, that's another one off my chest.

I like to be on the opposite side of the road when overtaking cyclists, horses etc, so as long as they're on the right side, they can ride 10 abreast.
You thought about yoga? Bit of breathing excercises?0 -

I really fail to see what the issue is. I've been driving for over 20 years and have only ever come across one peloton. I've come across plenty of cyclists, horse riders, slow lorries, tractors and mobility scooters though.
Personally, as a car driver I'm all for more people taking to their bikes, it means less cars on the road and makes my journey that bit quicker and less hassle. So really, when you see cyclists they are not holding you up, they are actually helping!0 -
They ride two abreast so that cars cannot overtake just one or two of them and then cut in due to oncoming traffic.
It forces drivers to be much more careful.
When overtaking your supposed to give them as much room as a car anyway (see highway code), so riding two abreast should not make any difference at all.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

The highway code advises cyclists to never ride more than 2 abreast BUT, ride in single file on busy and narrow roads.
Isn't it funny how they (cyclists) shout loud about being legitimate 'road users' and deserve respect. Then they think they are immune from traffic lights !Light blue touchpaper and stand well back !0 -

It's a small percentage who jump lights, the problem is that you don't notice those that don't jump red lights.
Cyclists have more right to be on the roads than any driven motorised vehicle...... Cyclists and pedestrians cannot have their right to use the highways removed, but drivers can have their license revoked.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I commute by cycle. I own a car and a motorbike. I also pay for the licences of the cars of my wife and three children. I do stop at red lights. Whilst there, I marvel at the car drivers who accelerate through red lights (not just amber). I have been often abused by motorists and often told that, since I do not pay road tax, motorists can do as they wish. It would be rather nice if motorists (scooters to artics) would actually drive with consideration and, once in a while, apologise when they don't, rather than get aggressive. It seems that even cyclists are capable of the odd sweeping generalisation.0

When I was taxi driver, I had just passed one of these groups of cyclists, I got a flag down. pulled in and picked up passengers (night time) I checked my side mirror, no cars coming and pulled out to go on my way.
Apparently when I pulled out, one of the front riders braked causing the others to pile into the back of him and they all came tumbling down.
In my defence- I did look in my mirrors but I think they may have been behind my car and were just about to overtake me, so I didn't see them. I also think there was another taxi that had pulled in behind me thus blocking rear view.
- I was a taxi driver
- If they had been riding with a safe stopping distance between themselves and weren't riding so fast they would have been able to avoid the hazard infront of them.
- accidents happen
