Airplane mode will turn off all radio and wifi signals. To log onto a wifi network, you need to disable airplane mode.
no to use a wifi network on the iphone while the phone is in airplane mode all you need to do is turn on wifi, you do not need to disable airplane mode. (this is also true on android and symbian phones amongst others)
