New Barclaycard contactless card

Hi folks, just received my new Barclaycard which is contactless. I'm not interested in using this feature on the card & believe it only increases the chance of fraudulent transactions being made on my account. How stupid can the banks get to allow transactions to be made up to the value of £15 without a PIN or signature. Granted they only allow 5 transactions before asking for PIN & say they'll offer the fraud guarantee but i'm just not convinced, especially with how poor i've heard Barclaycards customer services are. What do others think about this?

I think it's great, and can't wait for it to be rolled out everywhere so I don't have to worry about having cash on me to buy a bag of crisps or whatever now and then.
But having read other people's comments on here, I think I'm in the minority...

Thats fair enough, horses for courses. What annoys me more than anything is i have no choice other than closing my account which is what i intend to do as soon as my old card expires.0

Of course you have a choice. Put your card in the machine and put in your PIN.. simple!0 -
No i meant i don;t have a choice of having a card without this feature on it. As i said before i neither want nor am i interested in using the contactless feature & it only increases the chances of fraud.0

You do have a choice - you can buy RFID protector sleeves for any RFID cards you may have, including door passes for work, Oyster card, and contactless payment cards.

I'm curious why you think it increases the chance of fraud?
Granted anyone who steals your card could make a few fraudulant purchases for fags and crisps before being asked for a PIN verification but you would be covered under your existing fraud liability so long as you notifiy them of the loss as soon as you realise.0 -

Just to note - this feature has been introduced in September, 2007 - more than 3 years ago - and as far as I remember, it's rolled out practically to every new user for about two years now. It's difficult to call it something "new" that we suddenly need to be afraid of
I'm on the opinion that if they insists on pushing this - they need to be on top of any complaints, frauds and abuses, or it will fall over on its own. So far it didn't. The only complaints I have read are customers afraid of the "possible" fraud, no offense meant

Will be required when we go cashless though0
