Grant Shapps, start building homes you ****

That's how it will end up if he does not start listening to the millions who are just sick and tired of waiting, fed up of baby boomers holding off releasing land in the selfish belief it will keep their own property values high, and **** everyone else.

I do hope you guys are emailing and twittering and hounding him on facebook, and doing whatever it takes to get him to understand that we need to be homing our familys at 25 to 30 at a push, not 37 if you are lucky.

Of course the other option is to get some old minging !!!!! chav up the duff a handfull of times and then pack in work in order to get free housing, but people like me and many others want to hold our heads up high and pay our own way, PLEASE GIVE US SOME SELF RESPECT BACK.

We have the trades and we should have the wealth and know how, and God only knows we need the work out there, start building homes Grant Shapps.
I am emailing him this weekend, i want to know what his plans are. I am quite happy to start off with being polite and courteous, i am also quite happy to start being a pain in the a*** as well if he does not get started with the 300,000 homes needed in the UK.

Just to clarify, that's 300,000 homes A YEAR, every year for the next decade.

And even that would only be enough to keep house prices stagnant in real terms.

The only issue is [STRIKE]corruption[/STRIKE] planning.

Easy and cheap to build houses. Hard to get the council to say you can.

The very biggest issue is NIMBY's....and they are everywhere, literally.

Council builds a block of flats, and now the wilsons are going for a court case demanding £100,000 compensation as the new building has lowered the price of their homes.

    You get these issues everywhere.

Just make anyone who complains subject to their own property being audited for building regs.

Job done and keeps them safe.

If there is this massive shortage, why am I not seeing hundreds of thousands sleeping on the streets?
Loads of empty places up north and in Ireland though.

Because the 50,000 or so homeless people in Britain are housed in bed and breakfast accommodation at the taxpayer expense.

And another 2,000,000 live in overcrowded conditions.

Where houses are cheap..... Funny that.

Housebuilders are merely building houses that are currently selling. Larger units. So fewer in quantity.

Once house prices fall to an affordable level then maybe housebuilders will find that there's a demand again for FTB units.
